WTF with Buffalo?

Which of those players are core though? Top two D. Top two centres. Top winger. Goalie. The flaw isn’t in fans’ ideas. It’s in that core. Those are good players but they don’t mix. Imo they need a shakeup in that core.

Their problem is when Dahlin, Tuch, Thompson aren't on the ice.

They've got to figure out how to show up in October. This s*** is getting sad.
They actually figured that part out this year.

Remember, they were in a playoff position on American Thanksgiving...........but then immediately went 0-10-3 and that killed that.

THEN they started to creep back into the outskirts of playoff positioning at the end of February.......and went 0-5-1 (1-6-1, 3-8-1 if expanded slightly) and that REALLY killed that.

As soon as any pressure whatsoever is applied to this group of mental midgets, they fold faster than a folding table that's been jumped through.

Which of those three core guys is longest on the club? There’s the guy to move on from and reshape the club.
Zemgus Girgensons was the longest-tenured Sabre. He went to Tampa this offseason.
The next longest-tenured Sabre is Dahlin, but he's going absolutely NOWHERE.
Next on the hit list would be Cozens and Mitts.....traded.

Was Girgensons are core guys? Sure sounds like there’s been one constant in that core during all the losing. It might be Power who goes to fill holes elsewhere in the lineup, but (imo) that’s not changing the dynamics of the club’s core.

Jim Benning was so good at finding players who turned into sidney crosby once they were officially eliminated from playoff contention

I think there is a bunch of these guys around the league

But the problems are further up the ladder from KA. If he is fired, does anyone have confidence that Pegula will be able to hire a real GM with talent, not some yes man?

I had hopes for the Sabres till I saw that they hired Ruff... decent coach... 20 years ago. Ruff is a symptom of the rot that runs through the organization. Dahlin is not the problem, though there is no doubt that the lack of leadership and clear direction from the management has hurt his game.

The only thing separating the Oilers and the Sabres is Connor McDavid because we have the exact same issues.

No. Buffalo has as had more success picking nm players outside the top 20

We're all hoping that KA gets fired..............but most are not expecting it.
He is not.

I don’t believe I said Dalin is a problem. The dynamics of the core is the problem. And to make a change to those dynamics the longest tenured piece (imo) is moved.

If you don't think Dahlin is a problem why would you move the Buffalo's strongest on-ice contributor? For Vibes? The only problem Buffalo has with Dahlin is that he can't play 60 minutes.

Yes, move on from Dahlin, what a bright idea! The player where the Sabres have an 0-10 record when he is out with injury this season. The one guy who carries this sorry franchise on his back. *facepalm*

First they were destroyed by the Flyers with 1/4 of the roster filled by career AHLers. And then they destroyed Washington, who are one of the best NHL teams this season, in a back-to-back game.
Caps and Jets (who the Sabres also recently beat) are on cruise control, mystery solved.

Although the Jets are within striking distance of Dallas, so maybe they shouldn’t be.
