First they were destroyed by the Flyers with 1/4 of the roster filled by career AHLers. And then they destroyed Washington, who are one of the best NHL teams this season, in a back-to-back game.

This is the nhl. Margins aren’t that high and there’s a lot of game to game variance.
Lose 7-4 then win 8-5? All that tells me is over those two games they’re playing wide open games. This certain variance is a little bit too much, isn't it, though?

Why would you assume that? Do you have a large data set of game results that indicates that it is extremely uncommon for bad teams to have a lopsided win against a good team and a lopsided loss against a bad team? This certain variance is a little bit too much, isn't it, though?
The Caps have also pretty blatantly starting going all in on the record now that they've locked and have so few games remaining. Not saying that they're not trying to win, but where the focus on Ovi's goals was maybe 70-30 in favor of just playing, it's now closer to 50-50. If not 40-60.First they were destroyed by the Flyers with 1/4 of the roster filled by career AHLers. Fml...They can now all focus since the Jacob Bryson contract drama has been resolved.
It's the same thing with Quinn every year. He'll be injured or suck in october.Last 5 games: Mcleod has 9 points and Quinn 8 points. If next year Quinn can finaly break out and get 30+ goals and Mcleod continue on his trajectory of being a really good 55/60 points 2c i think they might make the playoff.
