Summer may be over for real but things are just heating up at the Legendary Wrestling Obsession podcast. We track a handful of hot feuds as JCP storms towards their second season of "Bash" cards in arenas and stadiums around the country. Ric Flair and the Horsemen try to eliminate Ricky Morton, Magnum TA and Nikita are on a collision course for the United States title, at the same time the Russians and Road Warriors aren't done with each other, the Midnight Express has a ton of trouble with the James Boys and the Horsemen do the unthinkable... they lay out the Road Warriors. This all culminates with the July 1st main event of Flair vs Hawk! The first of 14 scheduled title defences for the tour.

The wrap up of the Flair/Morton feud leads us to a stadium show on July 5th. The NWA's Great American Bash is in full swing and it's the biggest night in the singles career of Ricky Morton. The Midnight Express & Jim Cornette take on Dusty, Magnum and Baby Doll in a cage & the Road Warriors & Russians face off in a double chain match. All of that and much more including a tribute to the late Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie & Geoff redefines comedy with a commercial for the ages.

We peel back the curtain to release the first of our Patreon exclusive episodes. It's the follow up to "Growing Up AWA Part 1". The show largely covers and expands on items discussed in the first episode (we recommend you go back and listen to Part 1 if you haven't already). The episode also covers Corey and Geoff's experience at the live AEW Winnipeg show back in March of this year.

SNME roars into a new year and begins a clear path to the Pontiac Silverdome. In this episode we review the happenings on syndicated TV in December of 1986 up to the big show as well as some key house show results. Andre's reinstatement, the Piper vs Adonis feud, Hogan vs Kamala, a defining Bulldogs title defence in Hamilton and the Bunkhouse Battle Royals are all key. This all will set the table for Part 2 and the SNME card that features the first cage match in national television history.

I've nearly completed the SNME archive on Peacock. Into the '06 revival run. Wrestling and angles leave much to be desired but I liked the throwback production with the opening promos. Nice nod despite the massive talent gap in promos.

Manitoba Moneyshot episode goes silent around 40 minutes in for the duration of the episode (at least it does on Spotify).
That sucks. It's only around 47 minutes.
I listened to it on Podbean and Apple Podcasts and it worked ok on those ones.

Legendary Wrestling Obsession Podcast: It's the start of arguably the biggest year in wrestling... the January 1987 Saturday Night's Main Event is on deck. We take a brief detour to visit a dream match from the house shows as reluctant partners Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper team up against Mr Wonderful and the KING Harley Race. Then it's off to the big blow off of the Hogan/Orndorff feud with an epic cage match. Savage defends his title vs the Animal George Steele, while WM III takes shape with Piper and Adonis and JYD vs Race. We know whose feet touched first!!! Do you? Either way join us for another classic SNME episode.

In '98 I went to a WWF taping. It was Raw and 2 episodes of Heat. Owen Hart came to the ring to cut the same promo twice. I've always wondered what happened. No obvious gaffes. Perhaps something just rubbed Vince wrong.

I saw Nailz attack Bossman after a Superstars squash match 4 times on the same TV taping.

Legendary Wrestling Obsession Podcast:
It's the start of the long road to WrestleMania III and a classic SNME from Detroit. Before we can get there we have to follow the critical developments of January and early February 1987. Piper's Pit becomes the focal point of Andre's return and the first hints of the match of the century. The British Bulldogs defend their belts against the Hart Foundation AND Danny Davis and we wrap the show up with an entertaining tag match with Hogan and Steamboat facing Savage and the Honky Tonk Man. It's part 1 of 3 on our way to the Silverdome!

That is amazing. "No one will ever know." Did anything stick out as being a goof?
The weirdest part was that we saw two squash matches and attacks.
Then Bossman wrestled Nailz and beat him pretty easily.
Then we saw the other 2 squash matches and attacks.
It just didn't make sense as a live viewer.
Apparently that type of thing happened pretty regularly.

I invite people to catch up on last weeks episode of Legendary Wrestling Obsession.
It was a bit of a special show as it focused heavily on Jake the Snake and the feud with Hogan that never was... EXCEPT that it WAS in Providence & Winnipeg. Those matches between the two and so much more is on the table we set up the next instalment of Saturday Night's Main Event (March 14th, 1987).

WrestleMania III is just around the corner and a marquee Battle Royal serves as the first step in the Hogan vs Andre feud. Elizabeth is the prize in a Macho Man title defence and the new tag champs the Hart Foundation are tested by the unlikely team of Santana and Spivey. We talk Roddy's retirement and more on wrestling video games. Don't miss it!

I saw the same VERY long Flair segment happen twice during a Smackdown taping in the early 2000's. In other matches, I noticed a couple times that the same spot would be done 2-3 times in a row but it was always all in a short span. The Flair segments were a solid hour apart. Enough time had passed that it took a minute before we figured it out. The guy that drove the crew in was super pissed about it and said he was leaving. Since he was the ride, all of us had to go.

Legendary Wrestling Obsession Podcast:

Legendary Wrestling Obsession Podcast:

To help celebrate the holidays the Legendary Wrestling Obsession Podcast is taking a trip back to the a comfy Christmas night in 1982 at Reunion Arena in Dallas. It's Christmas Star Wars, Texas style! The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair is in town to defend his crown against Kerry Von Erich as they continue their feud and the long chase for the family to capture the title. Kevin defends his American Heavyweight Championship against Bundy, we see a crazy Battle Royal with a Pole stipulation and the finals of a tournament to crown the first ever 6 Man Tag Champions. We talk a little about the actual Star Wars. It's a great way to close out the first calendar year of our show. Keep your ears open for an upcoming Iron Claw review and in January we'll return to March/April 1987 on our way to the 11th edition of Saturday Night's Main Event!

Welcome to a special holiday edition of the Legendary Wrestling Obsession Podcast. Your hosts are tackling something a little different here. We went to see the new movie the "Iron Claw" based on the Von Erich wrestling family. Spoiler Alert this episode will discuss most aspects of the movie and you'll want to see the movie before listening if that is important to you. Check it out to see what we thought of the movie and whether we recommend you to see it or not. We also have some good laughs about our Christmas Dinner's and Geoff losing a fight with a 4-year old. It's the last show of 2023, Happy New Year!

It's a new year and we're back from the break with a mega-sized episode to set up the May 87 SNME card. We've got some great action from the Spectrum but the real meat of the show comes in the form of the Frank Tunney Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament from March 15th, 1987 in Toronto. Plus the final (original run) Piper's Pit and some board game talk.

This episode features a "What If" segment on WrestleMania III matches and storylines, and dives deep into the return of the Olympic strong man Ken Patera. We look back to a couple of classic encounters with Andre and Hogan to help set the return of a very different character. All that and a story about a very expensive flight for Jerry Saggs. This show wraps up the set up and gets us to the big card next week.

It's the big night and the campus of the Fighting Irish is the setting for a great SNME card. The main event is actually a dark match which we re-imagine at the end of the show but we are treated to a Jake vs Kamala match, a lumber jack match to end a feud, a best 2 out of 3 falls tag title match, the first televised title defence of the Dragon and a lot more. The WWF is riding the wave of momentum from WrestleMania III and we are there to cover it.
