he just go an assist on the pp right now. nice tic tac toe play. Looks good passing down low to the slot.was kind of surprised seeing the blues pp ranked 28th

That's his game. He likes to be down-low, or behind the net, and toss to the slot, or across the crease. He excels with a bigger body who can set-up in the slot or crash the net, and another play-maker/puck-retriever who can get the puck, feed him, and he feeds the guys down low or in the slot.

Blues use to have him down there when Kirk Muller was in charge of the PP, worked very well. Blues coaches are just stupid.

If only we had a GM and coach that realized the personnel and structure he needs to be most effective.

What you guys think is this the guy who thought Blues was his team? :laugh:

Can't remember when he had that kind of smile in his face when he played on Blues note.

What player would not be happy to go from a dumpster fire to a team that has a legitimate shot at making it to the Stanley cup finals.

Blues had an interest in Logan Stanley in this deal, over the weekend we were doing the due diligence on him in the OHL circles. I'd guess we had the choice of him or Foley and ended up deciding on Foley.

Fabbri Stastny Brouwer worked so well

Stanley would be a quantum shift from where they've been going with drafting

Agreed. The skating is just too much of a question mark when it comes to stepping up to the NHL. Which is probably why the Jets might have been open to moving him. It was Jeff Marek who reported this on the 31 thoughts podcast.

You guys did well in that regard.

As far as signing Stastny I would give it a 10% chance. I follow the Jets cap situation and understand the salary cap well. Bonuses could kill them next season and they want to prevent that.

I was of the understanding the Jets could fit all of their bonuses under the cap this year. Would assume that helps

Yes this year we will sneak under. Probably end up 700k under with all bonuses (should be about 4.6 million). Next year is the problem. Many are getting raises this summer and there's still the bonus threat. The following summer Laine and Wheeler are getting raises. A bonus overage from 18-19 could really cause problems.

You can always send Adam Lowry back to STL, he probably done forget what it’s like since he was a baby when he left. Save some money for you.

Since we're resurrecting old threads... This trade tree is fun to look back on:
Paul Stastny to WPG for 2018 1st (#29), Erik Foley, 2020 Cond. 4th
  • 2020 Cond. 4th (conditions not met)
    • Traded instead to MTL with Steve Mason, Joel Armia, 2019 7th (#206) for Simon Bourque
  • 2018 1st (#29) + 2018 3rd (#76) to TOR for 2018 1st (#25)
    • IN: 2018 1st (#25) -> Dominik Bokk
    • OUT: 2018 1st (#29) -> Rasmus Sandin
      • Traded from TOR to WSH for Erik Gustafsson, 2023 1st (#28)
        • 2023 1st (#28) -> Easton Cowan
          • Originally acquired by WSH for Andrei Svetlakov, Garnet Hathaway, from BOS with Craig Smith, 2024 3rd (#90), 2025 2nd
            • 2024 3rd (#90) -> Eriks Mateiko
    • OUT: 2019 3rd (#76) -> Semyon Der-Arguchintsev
  • Dominik Bokk + Joel Edmundson + 2021 7th (#209) to CAR for Justin Faulk + 2020 5th (#146)
    • OUT: 2021 7th (#209) -> Nikita Guslistov
    • 2020 5th (#146) to MIN for 2020 6th (#163) + 2020 7th (#194)
      • OUT: 2020 5th (#146) -> Pavel Novak
      • IN: 2020 6th (#163) -> Will Cranley
      • IN: 2020 7th (#194) -> Noah Beck
Final Trade:
  • OUT: Paul Stastny, Joel Edmundson, Dominik Bokk, 2019 3rd (#76), 2021 7th (#209)
  • IN: Justin Faulk, Will Cranley
Foley had his career cut short. Bokk flamed out and is now middling in Germany. SDA played 1 NHL game. Guslistov never came over to NA. Novak played a few seasons in the ECHL and is now back in Czechia. Cranley is our 5th string goalie. We didn't sign Beck, and he's now finishing his college eligibility in Arizona. Technically, the 2025 2nd held by WSH is the last remaining "unrealized" piece involved in the trade tree.

I think with Faulk, we ended up with the best player in the tree. Sandin is a player, and Edmundson is still kicking around the league. Other than them, that's a lot of pieces changing hands for a whole lotta nothin.
