That's great. He's such a good fit in the Jets. I love watching his creativity and versatility.

Good news!

Plus, he holds the all-time NHL record for best team headshot picture, ever.

He looks like a scary hypnotist there.

One good one in Palmerri for a Schenn comparison, and one not so good.

Fair deal, but kind of surprised the Jets kept him just for room in top 9 and also for the expansion draft if they planned on 8 players protected.

Part of MP's appeal is the versatility he brings. Paying 4.125M for a 3C seems heavy, but he can easily fit into just about any role on the team. Some analysis was done last year showing that certain players' advanced stats improve by a good margin when on MP's line, so I think he's worth the salary.

Gross. IMO, that's an over-payment for a player better suited on the 3rd line.

I've been a supporter since he was drafted....but this seems high to me. Congrats to Matty P though! If Jets fans are happy, well done!

He's good for 50-60 games a year tops

Overrated

While he is somewhat injury prone, he has averaged 67.3 GP over the last 3 seasons. He also is incredibly versatile and does well on any line he's a part of. This deal isn't larcenous but it's a good deal. You can call him overrated but at least give us valid reasons why you think so. There's a reason there is overwhelming positivity about this deal from the fans who watch him play.

Congrats to MP, well deserved. Still bitter that the Ducks chose to let him walk rather than at least qualifying him to trade his rights. Could use a guy like him in the lineup right now, though probably couldn't afford him at that price.
