He's found a home in Winnipeg, which is great for him.

He's been playing well for Winnipeg and if he keeps up that production they got a nice deal on their hands.

Even if he slips, it's going to be a fair contract for what he brings.
Especially since the Cap is skyrocketing over the next 3 years. I'd say he missed out on at lease 1 million AAV and maybe an extra year in the contract if he would of went into FA. It is nice to see players once they get to Winnipeg they are happy to stay there.

Also Winnipeg tax?

Glad to see him have a solid year and earn another contract. He does a lot of things decent and isn't terrible. Perfect swiss army knife middle 6 type player. I would take him over most of the bottom 6 on the lightning now.

Seems like a real "win - win" sort of scenario. Jets get a solid utility player with tons of flexibility who has fit in well there and produced decently as well. Namestnikov gets to stick around in a situation that seems to work for him. Lowry being arguably the best "3C" in the league and able to handle split 2a/2b sort of minutes with heavy duty matchup usage makes for a cushy fit with Namestnikov, who gets to play with some great offensive play-driving wingers, collects a healthy paycheque, and seems to be contented in his role. Hard to imagine many other places where he'd have the opportunity to play more desirable minutes with better wingers. And the term is also nice for Winnipeg in that it's not too long a commitment, especially for a guy who doesn't show many signs of dropping off in his physical tools/skillset, and always seems to give an honest effort at the very least.

Took advantage of Monohan leaving the Jets
Certainly underpaid this season filling in to fit 2C and doing a good job
Well deserved contract extension and fair on both sides.

You mean 3 C….but yes it is a good deal for a 3 C
Winnipeg C depth is a bit different set up than most teams.
Vlad is centring the second scoring line.
More often than not the Lowry line gets more minutes than our "2C".
So Vlad (or basically any other trade deadline acquisition who assumes that role) is going to get 3C minutes from a 2C role.

Vlad gets to be on our PP2 which has been a huge part of the Jets #1 PP in the league.
I haven't seen the stats but I assume our PP2 has some incredible stats compared to the average PP2 in the league.

He's also key to our PK, and Ehlers likes playing with him.
When Lowry was out Vlad helped carry the load (Kupari also got an expanded role).

Jets have the most cap space of any of the contenders but more so than any other year are being cautious about upsetting the balance and chemistry in the room. Our venture into the 2C rental market (Stastny not withstanding) hasn't worked out very well (on average).
Hopefully the Jets can find the right fit to boost the D-core instead and then maybe some injury insurance for the forward group.
