On the other hand if a good player wants to stay in Winnipeg long term and be part of the solution going forward I think you do that if you're the Jets. With the cap going up there's good chance this looks good for the next few years at least.

If he can be a good veteran on that team and help younger guys in later years it will be worth it.

yeah but not in Toronto is the point. Not saying they aren't good players, but it won't work in Winnipeg and I think they are looking to get out of both deals in the next few seasons like Toronto was when it was clear a rebuild was needed.
