Cardiac Jerks
Asinine & immoral
I just woke up from a colonoscopy to a text from a friend saying we were trade him to Winnipeg, too. Assumed that meant there was a bigger deal.
Yeah. I'd imagine Coughlan is free. We literally acquired him for future considerations from Vegas, and only because he came with one Max Pacioretty. Coughlan can't play NHL defense but he's a good minor leaguer.
BIGGEST Trade of the Offseason...Why the heck is this trade taking so long to finalize?
It's Friday after the 4th of July. The GMs, agents, players, and league have a life too and an AHLr for a conditional 7th probably isn't worth disrupting your Friday evening for.Why the heck is this trade taking so long to finalize?
Kotkaniemi + ?Just throwing this out there too, since the teams are obviously talking about at least 1 trade:
As a Canes fan…sure. Highly doubt the Jets would like that. I’d venture to guess it’s something around Ehlers + for Necas.Kotkaniemi + ?
If Ehlers is okay with signing and extension in Carolina, I think his value is on par with Necas. Good cap hit next season, fills a roster need, etc.As a Canes fan…sure. Highly doubt the Jets would like that. I’d venture to guess it’s something around Ehlers + for Necas.
Carolina is in desperation mode right now.Just throwing this out there too, since the teams are obviously talking about at least 1 trade:
As for Coghlan, I remember him being a standout at a Pacific Division prospect camp I attended in 2019. But seems like a AAAA player, maybe he'd be a #7 for Winnipeg?
What about them trying (likely trying, making the assumption Necas would be involved) to trade 50-60pt winger, who’s asked for a trade, for another 50-60pt winger, who is also rumored to be on the market, puts them in desperation mode?Carolina is in desperation mode right now.
Because they lost a top 4 D (Pesce) and 2 top 6 forward (Teuvo, Necas)...What about them trying to trade 50-60pt winger, who’s asked for a trade, for another 50-60pt winger, who is also rumored to be on the market, puts them in desperation mode?
Walker and Gostbeihere is not the same as Skjei and Pesce.Because they lost a top 4 D (Pesce) and 2 top 6 forward (Teuvo, Necas)...
They whiffed big time on their plan A after lowballing him for weeks. When they finally met his demands, Guentzel said: "you know what? I'm good".
So Ehlers is the plan D to save the offseason now?
Do you feel that team got better?
They always were going to lose good players this offseason. Are the worse now when compared to their end of playoff roster? Sure, but I still think they fight for 3rd in the Metro or a wild card spit next season. It's not like the iteration of the roster they had this year got past the 2nd round anyway, they needed change.Because they lost a top 4 D (Pesce) and 2 top 6 forward (Teuvo, Necas)...

And that's not accounting for the likes of Noesen, who after a career of sub-$1M AAV contracts (with exception of 2018-19) now leaves the town after three years for a 3x$2.75M contract with slight trade protections. They always were going to lose good players this offseason.
"Dylan Coghlan for future considerations" is a weird way of spelling any of 7th round pick, Rutger McGroarty, and/or Martin Necas
