Take the best offer and move on, he and Mitch don't deserve to hold any Leaf records.
I like the Rangers idea. Some nasty motherf***ers on that team who can possibly change our culture a little bit (Krieder, Miller). Rangers must be open for business too.All options should be on the table. I mean every single one of them
A lot of American teams would love an all American boy. Especially someone who can sell Jersies and be marketable
I can definitely see him ending up in LA, NY Rangers, Vegas (who just got embarrased)
You can still get a good haul
I wouldn't disagree with Matthews, but this Berube style of "playoff" hockey sure doesn't look too good when compared to the Panthers' style of playoff hockey, where they seem to dictate much more of the play and flow of the game. There’s no hockey system that can compensate for this version of Auston Matthews to get you to a championship. Dragging him to the second round and protecting him by giving him props for being a defensive passenger has already been a Herculean effort. We would need Pacioretty to go full Rantanen to get us past Florida.

No , changes would be necessary, but that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do.
The worst move in franchise history.
They aren’t going to trade him unless he wants out.
Giving him the Captaincy was one of the bigger missteps of Trelivings tenure.
I’d be open to trading him for sure. But I’m not sure I’d want the current front office handling that trade. They need to be gutted, not a 10th chance to fix their mistake.
Not sure it was his decision.
It depends on if he is injured or not. He doesn't seem to be playing with pride. The old Matthews was proud and took exception to losing, he took it personal
That probably goes all the way up to the Keith Pelley level.
Matthews is so terrible the Leafs can get soooooooo much....If this thread is how the GMs of the NHL think, how many 1st are we giving up with him to get rid of the contract?
We don't have a lot of assets to get rid of the contract.
Why would LA trade for a loser?
Some of you make no sense at all.
This is absolute bollocks. He has never had any pride, except when modelling his latest man purse.
It would be a bad time to trade him because his value has lowered and you'd get less for him than if he were traded when he was playing well, If they don't win this series and it is still possible then I think that it's not Mathews that gets traded, it's Marner.
You do not trade a scorer like Matthews.
Fair. However he continued to roll with them despite 10 years of evidence suggesting a change might be needed. An NHL GM should be able to figure out what he has fairly quickly.Tre hasn't been around that long.
Yeah how’s that working out for Shanna lolFair. However he continued to roll with them despite 10 years of evidence suggesting a change might be needed. An NHL GM should be able to figure out what he has fairly quickly.
That said, it kinda feels like the Core 4 deal with Shanahan directly and the GMs’ jobs have just been to fill out the rest of the roster.
For Shanahan it’s worked out great. He’s been in a high paying job for over a decade in which results don’t seem to matter much.Yeah how’s that working out for Shanna lol
I agree, I think that is about to end, but he has more money to last 5 lifetimes so it doesn’t matter, he con artist an extra $60 million from mlseFor Shanahan it’s worked out great. He’s been in a high paying job for over a decade in which results don’t seem to matter much.
