Would You Take Slafkovský Over Bedard in the Same Draft Year?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

No chance. The only reason people are disappointed in Bedard is because he was being compared to all time greats Slafkovsky never had those expectations.

Bedard, for me, is going to have to start showing more. If Slafkovsky can find consistency at his current rate of play, there could be an argument, Still way too early though

Maybe Slafkovsky need to have decent 1st halfs to begin with.

Bedard has been the disappointment of the season in the NHL for me but he is still outproducing Slaf by 12 pts despite playing with much much crappier players.

With the way both players are developing, is it possible that some fans or even organizations might prefer Juraj Slafkovský over Connor Bedard if they were in the same draft class?

Bedard, despite his undeniable talent, hasn't quite met the sky-high expectations placed on him before the 2023 draft. Even former NHL coach Bruce Boudreau recently said that teams don’t necessarily "fear" him on the ice. Meanwhile, Slafkovský, after a slower start to his career, is now making a significant impact in Montreal. His play in the second half of this season has been dominant, and his physical presence, combined with his growing confidence, has made him a key player for the Canadiens.

Considering that the 2022 draft was viewed as one of the weaker ones and the 2023 draft as one of the strongest, does Slafkovský’s development change the perception of his value compared to Bedard? Would fans or organizations now prefer the power forward from 2022 over the generational talent from 2023? Let’s discuss.
No. Bedard's ceiling is higher. He's got work to do, but he's also mired on a really, REALLY, bad team.

There's 3players on Slafkovskys own team that I would take before him. Caufield, Suzuki, Hutson.

Slaf ain't it. He's a decent player but not worthy of 1st overall, comparing him to Bedard is a complete joke. Bedard >>>>

Hutson is the only true #1 OA calibre player from the draft ao far which is very fortunate for habs.

Cooley might be slightly ahead of Slaf but it's still very close. Over the past 2 years they have the exact same amount of pts with slaf playing 4 more games. So it's still very much TBD between those 2. Ironically Wright could be the "sleeper" (if you could even call him that) to come out ahead of the other 2. Still very close between those 3. Hutson clears them all though
