Would You Consider Doing That?

Yes. Please. Lets remove 24 goals (42 over a full season) from the lineup. Prust and Dumont can surely do better.

No kidding, this thread is is a farce. How about scratch Subban and Markov for the playoffs ? We might win without them.:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I think Bourque or Ryder and Eller can do as good as DD and Gio.

Your issue is mainly with the third line if you think about it. But Gio could replace Dumont there.

The line up should look like that in the playoffs.

Against the other team's best offensive line :

Ryder Plekanec Gionta

Against the second best line and the second most ice-time

Galchenyuk Eller Gallagher

In offensive role only and against weaker opposition.

Pacioretty Desharnais Bourque

I'm not replacing DD and Gio by Blunden and White, it's a fourth line and Gio and DD can't play on a fourth line. If anything they are replacing Moen and Armstrong.

If you remove DD and Gionta from the team and insert Blunden and White into the team then, yes, you are replacing DD and Gionta with Blunden and White. That is the impact on team depth.

So essentially scratch DD thread? This seems new and original.

End of the day, it was to send a message, a while back might have been good but now? After scoring GWG and being traffic in front of the net for the next goal I don't see the logic.

It's just too late. We need everyone on the team. Many of the complaints regarding both players has been their less than ideal play. You want to spark them not remove them.

Ridiculous.

I'd cut their ice time, their PP time but they're NHL players and our depth is not THAT good.

DD and Gio should've been healthy scratched months ago, it's too late now to send any message.

Gionta is among the team leaders in goals while being excellent defensively. I don't give a **** about his contract (which is not all that bad, only one year left, and he is a legit 20-30 goal man), and I certainly don't care about his "size" issue, as he plays grittier than than taller players.

Would I mind a nice scoring RW so that Gionta can become a third-line stud? Sure, but that incoming star isn't named Gabriel Dumont, nor Mike Blunden, nor Ryan White.

How is this if you want Gionta off the top six?

Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Ryder
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Gallagher
Bourque-Eller-Gionta
Prust-Halpern-Armstrong/Moen

Give Eller the defensive responsibilities, Gionta will be a big help, trust Halpern's line with countering the second line of the other team, and let Plekanec and Desharnais' lines pile up points against the lesser lines of other teams. And of course those six play the PP. The bottom six kill penalties, with Pleks subbing for Bourque.

Yes, absolutely. I would also move them both in the summer, if I could.

In retrospect because of the progression of certain guys, what i'm proposing would be probably ideal to do during the summer not right now when we're close to starting the playoffs. In the summer, you trade DD for a solid D

Having DD and Gionta being healthy scratchs?

I know politically it could be hurtful but I think it would be all around better for the team.

You add Prust and Dumont on the first three lines. Prust has shown before he can play with anybody and Dumont was pretty decent with Chucky.

Third line would by Prust, Dumont with Chucky taking finally the center position.

Second line would be Bourque-Plekanec-Ryder.

First line would be Max Pac, Eller and Gallagher.

And then fourth line it would be Blunden, Halpern and White. Why Blunden and White over Moen and Armstrong? Because a fourth line is supposed to be a gritty line.

It wouldn't just be "politically incorrect" it would be dumb if your goal is to win.
