Proposal: Would the Sharks fancy all of the Canadiens picks for 2nd overall?

Just for fun, I looked back at the 2015-2010 drafts to see who was picked 2, 16, 17, 40 and 49.

2015: Jack Eichel for Matt Barzal, Kyle Connor, Nicholas Meloche, and Roope Hintz.
2016: Patrick Laine for Jakob Chychurn, Dante Fabbro, Cam Morrison, and Ryan Lindgren
2017: Nolan Patrick (Heiskanen, Makar and Petersson also available) for Juuso Valimaki, Timothy Liljegren, Aleksi Heponiemi, and Mario Ferraro
2018: Andrei Svechnikov for Martin Kaut, Ty Smith, Ryan McLeod, and Kiril Marchenko
2019: Kaapo Kaako for Alex Newhook, Peyton Krebs, Nils Hoglander and Matthew Roberston
2020: Quinton Byfield for Kaiden Guhle, Lukas Reichel, Daniel Torgerson, and Yan Kuznetsov

While my initial reaction was that the trade would be insane for San Jose, it really doesn't look that bad when you look at past drafts. Of course, scouting ability and luck plays a big part in this.

Very interesting

Also thanks to every poster on this thread for their time putting thoughts into this

Why are we even talking about Celebrini ? And why are you ignoring the extra two first round picks added to the offer??

The guy before you saying Hutson is better than Celebrini.

If that's how they think, then ya, don't trade Hutson for a 2OA. From my perspective I'd do that everytime.

....When you make a horrible trade proposal, you can't get mad when the team you're attempting to victimize makes a lopsided counter proposal.
Sure we can. Making a silly counterproposal is extreme childishness.

A Sharks fan didn't make this thread, a Habs fan did, take it up with OP for their terrible offer. When you make a horrible trade proposal, you can't get mad when the team you're attempting to victimize makes a lopsided counter proposal.

I wouldn't even think about trading Misa for Hutson and I doubt any other Sharks fan would either, so I think we can put this thread to bed.

Come on now, you're just asking for your entire fanbase to be forever trolled by the Habs fans with Pejorative Slured comments like this one.

Ahh, I see. You think Hutson is going to be an actual #1D. Nothing more to see here.
He just was an actual 1D on a playoff team and was ppg with great possession metrics in his rookie year.

You wish Misa turns out half as good as Hutson lol. He has great junior highlights though!

Not only a #1d, but a top 5 in the league, top 10 at worst
Quinn Hughes/Adam Fox kind of tier

Are you one of those Sharks fan Mad because Hutson is actually better than Wonder Boy Celebrini? Is it why you say such Mad shit?
Hmm, so first you say you'd trade Hutson for Celebrini, now it's Hutson is better?

No, of course I'm not mad that Hutson probably wins the Calder. He's got the Habs hype and played on a much better team, of course he's got the gas.

Whether or not Hutson ever becomes a legitimate #1D (never mind a top-5 D in the league, but it's natural to be biased for your team's player), the fact that he was drafted in the 60's shows that you can always get top pairing D outside of the top-5 of the NHL draft. True #1 centers? Almost exclusively drafted in the top-5 of the NHL draft. That's why no one sane would trade Michael Misa for Lane Hutson, even if I also understand that you don't want to trade Hutson. It is always, always, always possible to draft top pairing defensemen outside the top-5. It is almost never possible to draft a #1C outside the top-5. You as a Habs fan should know this intimately.

I’m impressed by the value of the 2nd rounders in this exercise

Lucky string of 49s but Hintz, Ferraro, and Marchenko are great

Ever heard of positional needs?
So you're saying that Hutson is better than Celebrini, but you'd trade Hutson for Celebrini because the Habs need a #1 center more than a top-5 defenseman in the NHL?

Cropping out the rest of my post because you don't have a good response is pretty juvenile, btw.

* A #2 center actually, we have already a #1 center

As far as the rest of your post: tl;dr and also didn't care

You're more than welcome to read whatever you like (although if two paragraphs is too much for you, I have questions), but something isn't adding up and the logic here is not exactly logicking.
