Would GM Chevy consider trading him after his Vezina year? His trade value will never be higher than it is right now. Several teams would have interest in him.

I think Carolina would be all in on him if Hellebuyck was made available.

You posted this 10 minutes ago so presumably you saw the game tonight...and yet you still made that statement.

'If' he were traded, the return wouldn't be all that good as once again he doesn't show up/step up in the playoffs. It's happened too many years to be a coincidence at this point.

A playoff bound team probably wouldn't want him (perhaps Edmonton or someone else with way below average goaltending), and a rebuilding team would be hurt by his great regular season performance as it would drop them in the draft order when they need good picks.

Regular season Helle is an awesome goalie, but when the playoffs arrive so does his evil twin...

Buffalo hasn't had a sniff of the playoffs in what 12 years? Why not? If they get obliterated in the first round nobody bats an eye because its Buffalo.

UPL + ..

Did you see the game tonight?

1st goal was a PPG, shot from the slot through a screen and it sounded like it hit the defenders stick
2nd goal was a 2-on-1
3rd goal was a PPG on a one timer

The only goal you can remotely put on Helly was the first 1....

Last game...
1st goal was a PPG on a deflection
2nd goal was a shot from the slot through 2-3 defenders
3rd goal was a weird bounce of Petrovic
4th goal was Rantanen making the D look terrible and scores on an great shot
5th goal was a 2-on-1 where Helly made the save but it turned into a 3-on-2 down and a nice tic tac toe goal

This seems to be a theme I've noticed in these playoffs... Jets hang Helly out to dry, fans blame Helly because SV% bad

ANd it makes me sick to my stomach to defend a Jets player, I hate them almost as much as the Oilers.

No. Even if other teams ignore his playoff inconsistency, he's got a full NMC. Winnipeg would be getting 25 cents on the dollar in a trade.

He’s rocking an 0.851 save percentage through 11 games in these playoffs. And has been skunked in 9 straight playoff road games dating back to 2023.

Can you walk me through your logic that leads you to “his trade value will never be higher than it is right now”?

This is a solid no. Hellebuyck is an excellent goalie, it's just the team that gets outplayed in the playoffs.
Respectfully as a Blues fan, he’s a total pants shitter. The team in front of him hasn’t been the reason he’s given up over 12 softies this post season alone.

NMC, playoff red flags, and concerns that he’s a Winnipeg “system” goalie of middling athleticism all conspire to lower his value to the point that it’s not worth trading him.

WPG knows they’re better off reducing his workload in the RS and hoping it makes a difference in the playoffs next year.

Don't be a noob the Sabres played them selves with that UPL contract.
Oh right! Almost forgot that the Sabres signed UPL who’s 31 years old to a 7 year 59.5m contract.

Oh my mistake. I was actually referring to Hellebuyck! UPL is 26 and they signed him to a 5 year 23.75m.
