If Cammi Granato would have been selected for the US womens team, I wonder if it would have made any difference, I really thought that was in bad taste to leave her off the roster.

Ray Ferraro seems to think so after his pointed comments on an MSNBC intermission report discussing the Women's hockey loss to Sweden.....he did preface his comments with stating that Cammi is his wife, however.

I thought so, even before Ray's comments. They struggled to score on the powerplay and in the shootout. Granato has a history of being able to score... on the powerplay and in the shootout. It seems in hindsight to have been a mistake.

Yes, she would have made a differance. I thought it was funny how worked up Ray Ferraro was getting about it (she's his wife).

I couldn't remember who she was married to, but it's funny that it's Ray, isn't she bigger than that dude?

I don't think the U.S. wins gold with her, I think they still lose by at least two goals against a hungry Canadian team that basically did everything right (from an on-ice perspective, not necessarily from a sportsmanship perspective) from the first puck drop against Italy.

And I don't know if the U.S. beats Sweden in the semi-final with Cammi. But I do know this: they really missed her experience and her leadership in the semi-final, and frankly, throughout the tournament. And she's still capable of producing.

I think it's eerily similar to when Canada left Angela James, considered by many to be "the Wayne Gretzky of women's hockey,"
off the 1998 Olympic team. Canada went on to finish second, even though Canada had always beaten the U.S. in the world championships. It's the biggest and most significant snub in the last three Olympics.

Nobody has said it yet, so let me do it :

Cammi Granato would have been a major upgrade for the men's team USA. :sarcasm:

by the way I'm one of a small group who believes the USA will be in the semi final. And I've said it on numerous occasions. So don't take it down to a personal level.

Was Cammi the only notable exception? I was lead to believe that there were quite a few new faces over the one that won the silver the last Olympics.

Well of course Ray got worked up about it but I'm glad he clearly prefaced his comments by saying she is his wife and implied thats why hes angry.
