Yea he didn’t produce greatly here but he’s a hard guy to hate imo because he was such a smart player. He never made bonehead mistakes, took bad penalties, or did many things that gets players hated by a fanbase. Even players like Strome or Miller who were more productive here made way more stupid decisions than Namestnikov. Panarin makes more stupid decisions than him, Namestnikov has very high hockey IQ and is great defensively imo

Namestnikov is a stud defensively and should be nowhere near a list like this.

hmm why Leinonen?
like many guys brought in along the way, he wasn't the scary gifted O player fans hoped,
but that great 6 assist playoff game was killer

Because on April 10, 1984 he had a great chance to score in overtime against the Isles. Ken Morrow scored, and a VERY good Ranger team was eliminated. I was bent. About a half an hour later, I got in a bad fight with some drunk who was harassing a girl on my gfs floor, in her dorm.

The trajectory and happenstance completely changed my direction in life at that time.

So of course, I blame Miko. ;)

I’ll always fondly remember Sather’s big deadline acquisition in 11-12 as we were en route to finishing 2nd in the league/1st in the division and a trip to the ECF

One of my absolute favorite calls, ever. I will never ever forget this.

Bruce Driver
Kevin Hatcher
John MacLean
Donald Brashier
Sandis Ozolins
Eric Staal
Emerson Etem
Darrell Powe
Olli Jokinen
And if I go back just a little further,
Eddie Olczyk

gotta throw in a an HM for Chris Bigras, for Sakic tempting away Ryan Graves
and NYR rolling out Sproul and OGara down the stretch

Aside from the obvious-

mcsorely, popovic, pilon. Glass is my least favorite nyr of all time though.

guys like Kotalik and frolov were such trash here too.

also, Mike Dunham being on the OPs list of worst Rangers is just absolutely ridiculous.

Doesnt he hold a few Rangers goaltending records?

Mikko belongs in the 80's.

Talafous was always hurt....but doesnt belong in this thread. John Bednarski belongs in the 70's column.

Dean Talafous? I would like a little back story on this choice.
I liked him and I believe he loved being here. When he was traded to Minnesota he retired rather than play for the NorthStars in his home state.
