Worst/Most Gruesome Injuries

I remember when Roenick got hit in the face with a puck, that was pretty nasty.

For me probably the worst thing I've seen wasn't hockey, it was Joe Theismann's leg snapping like a twig on Monday Night Football.

Some important incidents already mentioned. A few more...

It depends on how the words devestating and gruesome are defined and being used. Obviously, Lindbergh lost his life and nothing was more devastating to the Flyers. Lindros' last shift with the team. Rick MacLeish suffering an 80-stitch cut to his throat from Marcel Dionne's blade, and he was "fortunate" that it wasn't more severe.

Mikael Renberg's 200-stitch cut late in the 1997 regular season (the video is in the Ottawa GDT, not overly graphic).

Bob Dailey's career was over for all intents and purposes when he and Tony McKegney skated for a loose puck (icing touch-up). Dailey's skate hit a rut, his ankle instantly shattered. It was a painful incident just to watch.

The worst may have been when legendary Flyer Joe Watson played briefly for the Colorado Rockies and his knee bone was smashed into more than 14 pieces after he and a Blues' player Wayne Babych collided along the ice. Watson once said he still feels the pain every day. That supposedly was a rut in the ice issue as well.

Bill Barber's career ended while he was on hiatus and suffered a knee injury while working out.

Paul Kariya taking that hit from Stevens in the Cup Finals is something that always sticks with me. Just the fog hitting his visor after a few motionless seconds, still get chills.

Non hockey, watching Willis get McGahee'd against OSU is another one I saw live that sticks with me.

Jahvid Best in college with his arms going completely stiff from concussion. That same thing happened to Voracek a couple years ago from a Kronwall hit.

+1 for Malarchuk. I can remember hearing about it and then seeing the pics of the blood shooting out of his neck later. The only way it gets more gruesome than that is if Rinaldo flying dropkicked somebody and decapitated them.
