This tournament features logos eliminated in the first round of the Logo Tournament. For the first round, 1st seed = lowest % votes in previous tournament and 16th seed = highest % votes. For subsequent rounds, seeds will be redone based on the percentage of votes each logo received in their previous matchup.

Just saw that tournament and I'm late to the party, but I agree with the 2 finalists. Canes would be #3 for me.

Ducks? At least they tried making something out of a ridiculous name. It doesn't look totally awful if you stop thinking it's a duck foot print.

Ducks AINEC. It’s ugly as hell. The Caps one is kinda cool, reminds me of some retrofuture Jetsons themed roller skating rink from the 80’s or something. It’s just hated for being a wordmark logo.

They both suck, but at least the ducks tried something duck themed.

Capitals just looks like a bad 70s style, and it's the dreaded wordmark logo on top of that.

That ducks jersey is fire, and it's about as well as you can do with a name like "ducks".

I find the flying eagle to be very 90s. It was cool at the time but it hasn't aged well. Their Whitehouse logo was meh.

The W style eagle looks pretty cool to me, though. There's potential there.

I think y’all are sleeping on the horrendous hockey stick WAS attached to the T instead of the L. It’s so f***ing bad. It looks like something Gettyimages would use as an intentionally annoying watermark. At least the ducks is something even if it sucks

This bracket produced the correct final.

I thought going into the tournament that the Duck foot would be the runaway “winner”. But having spent some time thinking more closely about the CapiLals wordmark, I’m really not sure. This might be closer to a tie.

The Duck foot is really bad. The colors are awful, it’s a weird shape, it says nothing about the team, and it’s barely recognizable as either a D or a footprint.

But the Caps “logo” is an unholy mess. Being a wordmark isn’t automatically an L, but it does require a high standard of design. This one is a trainwreck. The fact that it has two fonts is just the beginning. The main font is hideous, the stars are weirdly justified, and the whole thing fails to make any sort of shape.

I think that last bit is what decides it for me. The webbed D is awful, but at least it’s a coherent shape. It works (badly) as a crest on a jersey, or a hat, or a polo shirt. The Caps logo doesn’t work at all, it’s just a jumble of lines that looks bad on anything. I’m surprised to vote against the Ducks in the end, but here we are.

Even worse, Washington actually currently has an amazing alternate logo (w/eagle) which they refuse to use as their main.

I feel like it's OK for one team to have a wordmark logo. Any more than that is overkill. But the novelty of it rescues it from being truly awful. The Ducks have no excuse. Actually are we forgetting that the Ducks tried to be a wordmark team? This was the compromise.

The only thing keeping me from voting Washington is the crazy amount of nostalgia that logo gives me when put on a jersey:

when I was a kid (80s) I hated the caps logo and they didnt have a logo like the wings, hawks or bruins. Now that Im old I love it but guess thats nostalgia.

I went from as a kid having the best logos in sports (Hartford Whalers and Washington Redskins) to the abominations that the Capitals and Commanders have today. Shame.

Still, the Ducks logo is worse. They have the worst jerseys in all of professional sports.
