If you are going to put Nurse on your list you better put Jones on that list as well. And the overpay on Jones is much more severe. How long does this guy get to rely on Draft reputation exactly?

Pettersson is going through a rough stretch but it seems a bit premature to put him on a worst contracts list.

Karlsson, Huberdeau and Couturier are the easy picks. Zibanejad is a contender because of the 5 remaining years and I'll go Dubois to round out the top 5.

Tavares and Seguin would have been in the discussion last year but they looked to be redeeming themselves. I'll give Nurse a pass but he's on the watchlist.

Nah. I would have said it last year but he's been good. Not 9.25m good but good enough to not make it the worst in the league in my opinion. I could have a different opinion next month too
Ya the same can be said of Gallagher. How long for is another question

Lol, I was still skimming the contract list and missed a couple when I originally posted. I won't pile on Nurse. He may be somewhat overpaid but he's more redeemable than the others IMO. Seth Jones probably is in a similar category but less redeemable at his age I guess. Sway also on the watchlist but too early to put him on this list.

Everyone always focuses on their favorite whipping boys in these threads like Nurse.

Here's some overpays that are worse than Nurse, but rarely mentioned:

Bobrovsky
Trouba
Seguin
Gallagher
Anderson
Huberdeau
Copp
Chiarot
Stephenson
Grubauer
Jones
Gibson
R.Strome
B. Schenn
Merzlikens
Swayman

Plus soon to be Sheshterkin, cause of course.

I wouldn’t call Huberdeau rarely mentioned when he was listed in like every post

It's classic HF, can't put stock into it. There's just too many knee jerk reactors around these parts - you have Friedman going on his podcast today saying stuff like "players like him don’t come around very often in terms of being available” and comparing the situation if he were to get dealt to the Eichel situation in terms of the talent of player. Pettersson being on these lists is straight up wrong (But I fully expect morons to continuously blindly list him here).

To answer the question, I think Huberdeau, Zibanejad, Dubois are all slam dunk picks. Then I'd go with Seth Jones and Couturier.

Jones is a tough one because anyone playing 25 minutes on Chicago is gonna be a big minus player, but he's still eating big minus and producing decent offense. Really hard try gauge considering his situation in Chicago, and it doesn't really affect the team if he's overpaid a bit.

Not sure who is more overpaid between him, Karlsson and Nurse.

Gallagher has a bad contract, but I'm curious which other forwards are at 6.5 and pacing for 20+goals? Also only 2 more years.
anderson also overpaid at 5.5 and on pace for 15 goals. also 2 more years.
Poor contracts but I think there are far worse out there when term is taken into consideration

Huberdeau, Pettersson, Nurse, Swayman are the 4 worst IMO

It’s way too early for Swayman. Tough offseason for him and how it was handled. Definitely showed he was a great goalie before and is still very young.

With goalies it’s a confidence thing more often than not. The ability doesn’t go away. It’s the position with the most pressure and for him it’s his first time dealing with poor play. He’ll learn from it and be better. He’s a very emotional player and when he doesn’t have it, I would imagine it gets to him. He’ll learn to manage the highs and the lows better. I have no doubt he’ll bounce back and I’m not a Bruins fan whatsoever.

Goalies go through highs and lows more than any other position. We’ve seen it with great goalies in the game. Bobrovsky, Vasilevsky, Sorokin, Shesterkin, Ullmark. The list is extensive.
