I really think we should win this and get promoted. Dont know much about the other countries but i feel pretty confident with our squad. The only important player that is missing is Stian Solberg which is injured.

Slovenia has 3 really interesting forwards in Török, Crnkic and Mahkovec.

Denmark might have the best player in the tournament in Oscar Fisker Molgaard. Him and Almquist is gonna dominate.

Yep. According to the Norwegian Icehockey federation 40 NHL scouts are coming to the tournament. Fisker Molgaard is probably the player they are most interested in.

Our best D-Man Stian Solberg out of the tournament due to injury, thats a big blow to our team.
Koch and Wasenden will see some icetime for sure. Players like Martin Johnsen and Leo Halmrast needs to "step up" in this tournament. Brandsegg Nygård is an interesting prospect, but very young, needs more time to develop.

Why isn't Lars Petter Eckholm (from Rögle U20) on the roster? Does our Nationalteam U20 coach think he will find more talents in Fjordkraftligaen instead? LoL

A couple of notes about the WJC D1A.

There were 2 2006 born players named to selection camps - both play for Denmark, and both are guys that could be NHL drafted in the future.

Anton Linde

Tristan Lee Juhl Petersen

Some good 2005's that could be playing in this tournament, they're all legitimate contenders to get picked in the next 2 NHL drafts, and guys that scouts are going to want to watch going into the event.

Stian Solberg - Norway (Potential 1st round pick in 2024)

Michael Brandsegg-Nygård - Norway (Potential 1st round pick in 2024)

Petter Vesterheim - Norway

Mai Crnkic - Slovenia

Oscar Fisker Mølgaard - Denmark (Potential 1st round pick in 2023)

Albert Schioldan - Denmark

Oliver Karkas - Hungary

Potential Leading Scorers:
Marcel Mahkovec - Slovenia
Mai Crnkic - Slovenia
Zeteny Hadobas - Hungary
Daniil Ysybin - Kazakstan
Marcus Almqvist - Denmark
Martin Johnsen - Norway
Michael Brandsegg-Nygård - Norway
Petter Vesterheim - Norway

I think one of Norway or Denmark will be promoted - and one of Slovenia or France Demoted.

Kazakhstan will be a middling team as always. Hard not to highlight Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan who is seeing KHL minutes, I'd like to think he will need to be the go to guy if Kazakhstan is to pull off some upset this year. Plenty of players missing the tournament due to injuries (or suspicious omissions or rather suspicious inclusions) like last year's top scorer Nikolai Shulga, goalie Yurgis Dubinskas, defenseman Ali Alibek, and forwards Kirill Dvurechensky and Yan Tyutyunkov. I'm always skeptical of a coach who takes players as an underagers to this tournament and then doesn't even invite them to the camp following season. Also there are two 05' born players leading Assat junior team in Finland that probably should have been looked at, but here we are.

Basically I expect nothing from this group.

The big favorite for promotion most be Norway, who has a really strong team with the majority of the players competing in the strong Swedish junior leagues.
I don't see Denmark as a contender for promotion this year. The oldest players (birth year 2003) are mostly role players, and the birth year 2004 is only strong in defenders so we will have to rely on the U18/U17 goal scoring forwards to carry the team.
The Danish team will most likely be much stronger next year, so for now I just hope for a good showing from our team and that we're not getting into trouble.

Strong swedish junior leagues? They are not even top 10 strongest junior leagues, in Europe alone.

This tournament is definitely missing Latvia.
Latvia has earned the right to stay up in the top division. I don’t think it’s a guaranteed they’ll be relegated this season either.

They have a ton of talent still and didn’t lose too many players from last year.

No they have not earned it. They were appointed to the top division but sports-wise they belong to D1, that's why I'm saying the tournament is missing them. Would be more exciting to watch the D1 with one more great D1 team participating.

Looks like you missed the 2022 WJC.

If Belarus had qualified for 2023 WJC, you would be replacing Slovakia or Austria, not Latvia, which barely lost to Sweden in the quarters.

As for Belarus, I have no idea what you're looking for in Div IA.
You will be starting from Division III and the likes of Kyrgyzstan and Bulgaria, which is exactly where you belong.

This evening I came to write some thoughts about about Ukraine NT, but their preliminary roster is simply crazy. I just can't wrap my head around all the displaced kids playing in random youth leagues around the globe. There is only one thing I can say - **** you Russia.

We had quality prep games vs Poland. Team looks decent to be honest. We’ll see how we manage in the tournament.

Anyways it’s a miracle Ukrainian hockey league is played now adays. Considering terrorist-state called russia is bombing our cities.

I can say only one thing - russia delenda est. There’s no place on Earth for this country.

P.s: first game against Italy, they look scary to be honest. I hope we stand a chance
I’ll share my though after the first game here
