My annual pitch: Under twenty tourney starts the day after XMas. If you dont watch this, you should.

Quickly, off the top of my head, B's should be represented well:

Vlader
Zboril
Steen
Lauzon (maybe)
Senyshyn (maybe)

Im sure I'm forgetting people.

I highly recommend tuning in.

I agree that USA will be strong this year.

Donato's too old. Have to be born in 97 or later. Hes a 96.

Lauzon, if he is healthy stands a good chance. He's one of nine d-men invited to camp. Victor Mete is the lone OHL d-man invited and Lauzon is definitely ahead of him IMO. So he'll be battling the boys from the Q and the Dub. Health will be key for Lauzon.

Senyshyn will be in for a tough battle. But I will say this: After the last game between the OHL and the Russians at the super series in which ZS9 scored, Ryan Jankowski (director of player personnel for Hockey Canada and the man who will put the team together) was asked about Senyshyn (not by yours truly *whistles*) when he broke out with a big smile, and then trying to hold back the smile went on to talk about him - basically, he was genuinely happy that Senyshyn scored in Senyshyn fashion.

Jankowski likes him - a lot. But it will be a very tough battle for him.

Trent Frederic I would imagine if he's healthy.

Joonas Koppanain (sp?) perhaps for the Finns.

I'm really hoping Vlader is in goal for the Czechs.

I'll be in attendance at the bronze and gold medal games. First time ever attending the WJCs so I'm pretty excited.

No need to pitch it to this fan Joe, have been fortunate enough to enjoy this event live more than a few times as it`s my favorite tournament, second to none including the Olympics.

Even more fun when there are B`s prospects represented and sure feels like lately it`s happening more and more which is great for the organization

I am expecting both Vladar and Zboril to play premier role on the Czech team. That means Vladar being the starter and Zboril on 1st pairing with PK and PP time.

I feel the same way. I look forward to this tourney more than any other. It turns me into a massive geek. Since October, I've been keeping spreadsheets on the prospective players for the top 6 teams (USA, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Finland, Czech), tracking the progress of guys I wouldnt recognize if they stepped on me.

Absoutely the most wonderful time of the year. Did read some articles a while ago that suggested following the young guns team level of excitement at the recent Canada Cup that perhaps we should be sending 20 and under players to the Olympics. It is an very intriguing idea and more in keeping with the long standing practice of a world stage for amateur athletes.

Has the US team been named as yet or is their an idea as to what the team will look like? Do remember other posters suggesting Donato, Frederic and Lingren all as possible candidates.

Speaking of Frederic he looks a lot better than Bellows

Frederic being big a good skater and having a defensive base had a good foundation entering college game

Did find the attached article from US hockey, although have no insight on if the author is a reliable source.

He provides some hope for Frederic. Believes MacIvoy and Lingren should be named. Does have an interesting take on the fit for Mac's expected role that might give some B's fans pause. Not a very good opinion on the play of Mr. Bellows this season. Ouch!

Steen was not even mentioned in most projections I saw in Swedish media. Fairly well off at forward, though Steen is a wash against most of the bottom guys imo. Chemistry between the Skellefteå guys might have been a factor (just a guess).

The most wonderful time of the year has finally arrived! And oh yeah, Santa thankfully also made his appearance. :)

Hope you are able to join in the fun as the World Juniors kicks off with three games on tap for today. Of most interest to the members here would perhaps be USA and Latvia this afternoon at 4:30PM Eastern Time and Canada and Russia at 9PM ET, both from Toronto. The day gets started with Sweden and Denmark at 2PM ET from Montreal.

Maybe should be not looking too far ahead, however the New Year's Eve late afternoon affair featuring Canada and the USA at 4:30 ET from Toronto is one to circle on the calendar. It may well be one of the best, certainly one of the most anticipated, group stage games to be played in the entire tournament. Bruins picks who are expected to be big pieces of their near future will be on display in this one. Perfect way to follow up the Bruins - Sabres matinee game.

From the selection camps, pre tournament exhibition games and comments from the analysis covering them, most see Sweden as the favorite to win. The teams that follow are Canada, USA and Russia who are all capable of also winning it all. The other non-power house nations attending often supply twists to the plot along the way. Plenty of the best available players in the under 20 age group from the 10 nations competing this year. Several are considered to be in the elite category at this stage of their career.

TSN will supply its usual wall to wall coverage in Canada. Not sure what the availability will be in the United States but hope some broadcaster is planning to carry it. Sit back and enjoy game action from the annual tournament that never disappoints. It will provide some of the best game action you may see all year.! Enjoy!
