Really excited for Stancl. He seems to excel playing with better players, and those players don’t get worse from him being around. Ultimately, I’m not sure if he’s good enough to be an NHL regular in the future but he’s certainly doing everything to close that gap production wise.

I really liked the Ralph pick in the draft that a lot of people didn’t seem too excited about. He reminded me of that Rinzel type that’s going to play a few years in the NCAA and then you look up and go he could probably play on the bottom pair right out of the NCAA. Can’t teach 6’5 and he played a pretty significant role at SSM and provided a good deal of points. Not sure how much offense is in there, but with the way I think it was Tim Taylor comparing him to a possible Parayko-esque defender it’s pretty exciting.

I was watching him play with Andrew Cristall with Kelowna. Cristall is just exceptional this season. So Stancl was just in the right position for a lot of great playmaking, it wasn't clear how much was him. But during this tourney you can see what a force he is on his own. He plays 20 miles away from me in January and February against a 6'6 defending behemoth who is projected possible top 10

I’m just generally opposed to taking players out of high school programs in the draft, especially early. They don’t have a very good hit rate. Sam Kurker, anybody? I like what I’m seeing so far out of Ralph, and he seems to be adjusting to higher levels of competition better than anybody could have hoped for. But I think I’ll be a little skeptical of his ability to “make it” up until he’s wearing the blue note. Cautiously optimistic, erring on the side of cautious.

But you’re right, it’s pretty tough to find a guy built like an all-pro linebacker on skates.

After uneven start to tourney, Dvo was dominant today. Obviously against lesser opponent, but he looked phenomenal on day when the rest of his team (other than his line) looked awful. Great to see.

It was also a must win game. Helped get them into the tournament phase. Now we will see if he is able to take it to another level.

I wasn’t sure about that pick after the summer showcase in July, but he seems to be getting used to the speed thanks to playing college.

Is he physical?

He uses his size to separate and shield the puck from the opponents. He's not nasty/tough physical from the few games I have seen. He plays like Parayko.
