Stenberg and Dvorsky looked great. Pekarcik created some chaos and showed some skill. Lindstein made some solid defensive plays but will be more noticeable when his team plays someone who forces them to actually defend regularly.

I don’t think Ralph played another shift after he lost the puck in the corner on the PK and then had a shot go through his legs for Germany’s first goal. Outside of that play, he looked pretty solid. Hopefully he gets some ice time in the third now that they have a solid lead.

Hat trick ASP. Stud.

Lindstein with a great stick to break up a 2-on-1 pass from Pekarcik intended for Dvorsky.

I'm torn.
Good offensive player, had himself a busy game today. Gotta love the hat trick, but I didn’t like either penalty he took. I’m just not convinced ASP is going to be more than a 2nd pairing PP QB in the NHL. That’s pretty much his ceiling IMO given his size and reliance on his shot to generate offense. Was trying to think of a good NHL comp and Kevin Shattenkirk with a better shot and more swagger is who I kept thinking about.

Lindstein on the other hand has the IQ to be a top pairing dman…maybe even high end #2 if he develops properly and is willing to take more risks once he acclimates to the NHL level.

Ralph has pro Dman written all over him
His size and skating will get him to the NHL…not sure if he has the skill and IQ necessary to be more than a bottom pairing guy tho. He looks pretty raw still IMO, but the good news is he’s got plenty of time to develop the next couple years in college.

Also, he’s gotta stop screening his goalies haha

Yeah he just has the look of a shutdown guy. Early in the game I was thinking damn this big bugger can skate and does not get beat. Showed some decision making warts as it went on

I agree regarding ASP. He’s taking advantage of defenses that focus on collapsing and giving him room. I think he has good skill, but I’m seeing a player that takes advantage of space but isn’t creating it consistently nor is he being put under pressure. I still see an NHL player, just a flawed one that could become another Gostisbehere.

Swedish shattenkirk is a very good comp for ASP. People forget how good Shatty was in his prime.

And as we all know, no NHL team wants a prime Ghost Bear

To be clear, I wasn't saying I'm torn between wanting ASP and Lindstein. I meant I was torn watching a Blues prospect break up what could've been a nice assist and goal for a couple other Blues prospects. Those were two separate posts that got linked since they were posted so soon together.

I agree with what you've said about ASP for the most part. I definitely don't see enough offense to deserve some of the EK comparisons I've seen and his size is a bit of a concern. Top 4 sounds about right based on what I've seen but the kid has shined in the 4 games I've seen this season with 6 goals, with 3 of these games being with Skelleftea. Shattenkirk is actually a really sold comparison.

I do think he's going to be a great fit on that Wings D-unit behind an Edvinsson-Seider combo that's looked strong. Give him a big-bodied, strong D-partner to let ASP do what he does on the offensive side and he should thrive.
