Impressions
Finland couldn't do a thing in that period. Canada pretty much just took them out of the ice there.
Niemela was the only one who looked good, and only time Finland looked okay moving the puck. That was an impressive play him. It was like he said "okay I'm going to try and do something" and nearly resulted in a goal.
If your Finland, only down 1 is a victory, but they need a pushback.

Been very impressed with his game so far.

had a beautiful play under pressure behind his own net with 2 Canadians rushing in on him. Calm back hand to his winger on the boards

He has been awesome in all Finland's other game also.

I love how well we moves the puck, his gap control but am most impressed with how much he takes the body effectively and wins battles for not a big guy.

Hoping to see something from our prospects today, but not expecting much. Finland is lucky not be down 4-0 right now. When they're engaged and playing hard that group of Canadian forwards (without Dach or Lafreniere) are just on a completely level... Hoping Niemela and Hirvonen can just hang in there today... Playing against studs today.

The way Topi makes his passes under pressure reminds me of Erik Karlsson. Ofc they're not the same players but his smarts and quickness and escapability in avoiding tight situations is remarkable. I'm legitimately impressed by this kid. I think we have a serious gamer here.

Hirvonen looked great and was a hound out there this period. You can see him being physical taking runs at Canadian players every chance he got and he's decision making with the puck seems good.

Kokko was steady, great stick checks and did a fantastic job eliminating opportunities for the Canadian players. Also noticed he took over the puck behind the net a couple of times and made easy looking outlet passes while under tight checking. Steady.

#10 looks like a mess on defense, Viro is getting caught flat-footed too many times. Heinola looks like he's getting hounded everytime he touches the puck and played hot potato with it a couple of times. Made some good plays too but under pressure he's getting way too flustered. I love #2s defense. Kid seems to be steady and makes simple plays most of the times.

I thought that outside of 2 little plays by Niemela our prospects looked deeply (and understandably) outmatched in that period. Hoping to see more from them in the next period. That was a complete clinic by Canada and should be a 3-0 or 4-0 game.

Canada just so dominant. Nice to see Niemela still with a good game so far, handling bigger forwards and creating the only real chance by the Fins so far.

Oh yea. Finland got absolutely destroyed in that period. Our kids are looking steady however in the middle of that tire fire of a period by the Finns. It's nice to see. This is the first game where Lundell looks absolutely human as well. Canada is 2-3 tiers above every other team in this tournament.

Lots of Finnish players are playing hot potato with the puck. Canada's pressure is relentless.

Niemela with a terrible shift earlier in this period. Absolutely gassed, threw the puck away multiple times.

After PK, Niemela isn't on the ice who is one of a few moving the puck, and Canada scores

I know Topi is #7
But what are the numbers of the other 2 leaf prospects?
Thanks

Posted this in the GDT....

Just before that second goal, TSN showed some cutout fans...got me to thinking....Canada/Edmonton should have put a cut out fan of every Canadian hockey player that has won gold medal....it’d be pretty impressive.
