Why do players raise their hands when they make an infraction? That only makes the refs believe that you did something wrong more. Like just keep playing normally and the refs will miss things more than normal.

Agreed. Hard to pass on Rodion's skill and skating.

Guhle and Schneider were both expected to go between 24-28. Rodion was expected to go 17th.

That's a big gap and imo I would always go BPA for that.

The World Juniors is just a tournament. I dont get too hyped up over prospects but I won't lie, its great to see Leafs prospects doing good on teams (Russia/Finland), especially when Dubas traded back to get some of those players.

multiple draft insiders on the athletic. Hockey pdo etc had amirov as tour pick. I hadn’t heard of him before I listened to numerous “pros” talking about him. He was listed as 12-17 by basically everyone

thought he meant he knows exactly how these picks are going to work out based at this current time, my bad... I see what u are saying and u are right.
Yeah we're not saying it to be mean to Schneider. It's just that he's a guy who doesn't have any standout tools aside from physicality and doesn't have elite hockey IQ to make up for it. He could still be like a #4 but I don't expect anything more than that.

Pretty much game over now.

Look, I’d love a guy like Schneider in the org. But you don’t pick him with #15. It’s been suggested that Dubas tried to trade back with the #15. But he couldn’t find a suitor, or the right value. Maybe he wanted to move back to 20-21 to grab Schneider, but they couldn’t get value and pick the consensus better player. Schneider seems to be a consensus low 20’s pick, and that’s where he went. Amirov was consensus 15 and that’s where he went. It would of course be nice if we had more diversity in the system, and hopefully that is addressed at some point. As much as all these draft picks have great skill, we have more skill players than we will ever have spots for. They can be used as currency to trade for that size and toughness.

No doubt, he's got a good shot when the goalie is missing his stick.

Don't tell that to Oilers fans. The idea Zegras could have been an Oiler playing with McDavid and Drai
lmao. That's a tough choice though. Broberg might still be something although Zegras is already impressing.

Dmen definitely take longer though.

Who would you take? Broberg or Zegras?

the link you provided me based there rankings on a large number of mocks , they had Zary 15 , Amirov 17 , Guhle 20 , Schneider 21 to name a few around our pick and they went 24-15-16-19 which is roughly where they were supposed to go outside of Zary who dropped a little so this idea that taking one of the D at 15 was some type of reach pick is absurd

Bob Mac just called him a duel threat. What does Bobby Mac know that you don’t eh

Why are you making this into a Schneider thread? I don’t think you’ll find a Leaf fan that wouldn’t want a prospect like him, most just aren’t thrilled about drafting a low ceiling player at #15 overall.

They have 2 similar D, albeit smaller, that have played same or better this tournament that were selected a lot later in the draft.

Zegras right now looking like a superstar. You can always trade a player like him to trade for ready made NHL D.

Kinda happy the Americans are winning. A Canada-USA final gets the juices flowing more then Canada-Finland.

Tend not to love Finnish fans, so I’d actually prefer to dummy Finland. If it’s a tight game though I’d prefer USA.

Sorry Finnish Leaf fans❤️

Lmao. Can't blame them for being loyal and loving their homegrown talent but I know what you mean. Laine > Matthews? Get outttta here. Barkov > Matthews? Get outtttaa here.

Nice goal.

Let’s get this back on topic. Plenty of other threads to complain about drafting.

Kind of feel like the Americans are getting screwed here, despite having the lead. The only penalty the refs have called on Finland all night was the obvious high stick.
