It's astonishing that the author of that short-sighted article doesn't consider Denmark as an improved hockey nation. They've skyrocketed from where they were ten years ago.
 
It's a fair point that if you've purchased a package for the preliminary round, you're probably going to build up an affinity to the Canadian team by the end of the round, but then they go off and you have to watch them on TV for the rest of the tournament.

That kind of sucks. I prefer it when one city hosts the whole thing, then you own it and the (business) success or failure of the tournament is on that city and those fans. Splitting it up the way they did sounded good at first, but not sure if it's a good idea.

Do you think think the reason one tourney was hosted in Toronto and the other in Montreal was the size of the secondary arena? Doing just here or there would have meant leaving money on the table playing in a smaller arena.
