Here is a lot of interesting articles/news/updates from nhl.com website in before the World Cup, and it includes quite a lot, also info about the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village, Players tracking, and few other things, including players' or coach's take on the tournament, or even Bettman and Fehr speaking about future of these tournaments, and more. If someone is interested and missed that, here it is. I figure out I would just be wasting space in other threads, so I made this one up specifically for all interesting news/articles about this tournament, see below:

(to MODs, I didn't post the thread in international forum since here is much bigger audience so to speak, who perhaps don't follow the international forum even if otherwise interested in the World Cup.)

These are not old articles, all of this is from 2 days ago at worst.

Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby, Jamie Benn, Ben Bishop, and others on the World Cup, early start, etc.
"First off, how could you not be excited about [the World Cup], it's a great way to open the season," Team USA forward Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks told Network on Friday. "I think for a lot of us we're just ecstatic, we get that other opportunity to play for our country in a big tournament like this. Given where it's at in Toronto, the hockey mecca of the world, how could you not be excited? I think a lot of players that are going will be well-prepared for it."

"It's going to be a high-tempo tournament, and we're going to play at a high tempo," Team Canada and St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. "I would imagine the practices are going to be like midseason NHL practices: 40, 45 minutes, but high tempo right out of the gate."

"I don't know if many people know what to expect yet, or if even the players know what it's going to be like, but I'm putting expectations pretty high," Seguin said. "I think it's the best of the best and going to be a great tournament."

World Cup of Hockey corporate partner roster expands
Among others - autoTRADER.ca, EA, Esso/Exxon Mobil, Geico, Pizza Pizza, SAP, Sonnet, Upper Deck, Adidas, Air Canada, Canadian Tire Corporation, Honda, Molson Coors, PepsiCo, Rogers Communications, Scotiabank, Tim Hortons or Visa

All you need to know about The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village + here.
The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village will serve as the epicenter of the World Cup of 2016 for fans and corporate partners, offering a diverse mix of programming, live musical performances, big-ticket prizes and giveaways, food offerings from each of the participating tournament countries, big-scale viewing parties, and much more. The family-friendly festival will occupy the Distillery District plus more than 200,000 square feet of an untouched lot east of Cherry Street, which will be known as the 'East Fan Village.'

Puck, player tracking: The data captured will feature puck and player speed, puck trajectory, distance traveled for players and the puck, player ice time, zone time, shots, shot distance, shot direction, and possession information.

In addition, McArdle said coaches in the World Cup will have tablets on the bench that will allow them to have access to live video streams and replays to give them an advantage on coaching strategies and challenge situations.

Expanding of international calendar?"We would like to do the World Cup on a regular basis, perhaps in locations throughout the world," Commissioner Bettman said.

The NHL and NHLPA view the Olympics and World Cup as different entities. They do not consider the revival of the World Cup, which will be played for the first time in 12 years, to be a precursor to denying player participation in future olympic games.

"I don't think one has much, if anything, to do with the other," Fehr said. "The Olympics are a unique event. It's a multisport event. It has a particular history, a particular way of choosing the participants and all the rest of it. As everybody knows, the players really value their Olympic participation. [The World Cup] is something different. It's a hockey-only event, which by design is going to give us the best quality player-for-player and man-for-man that any tournament of this kind has ever had. We think it's a complete standalone. I don't think it interferes necessarily or in any other way with the olympics."

Daniel Alfredsson on WC and Team Sweden
"There was a day-and-a-half of meetings, which I think was productive, going through the systems, where we're going to play," Alfredsson said. "It's starting to feel more real. We're getting closer. Three weeks before training camp starts. Things are lining up. We obviously like our team. We look forward to it. It's a great setup.

"This [tournament] is probably even harder than the Olympics because it's three games and you've probably got to win two of them to move on," Alfredsson said. "It's going to be intense, but it's going to be a lot of fun too, because it is the best of the best and everybody's prepared better than a normal Olympics with a real training camp. You don't really have any excuses come puck drop in the first game."

It's as if he's forgotten all about his own tournament in 1996 and 2004, which did exactly that.

I know some people aren't excited much about the tournament due to the two all-star teams, but you have to admit that otherwise the event is really well prepared and is getting the things such an event should have. Let's say there is two countries instead, I think you would find this Fan Village and other things a great thing, or not?

It's definitely something that makes it even bigger than it already is and I trust the NHL that they can and will organize this tournament really really well.

You know what the funny thing is, that some posters (well one especially) are kinda of denial of the positive attitude from players towards this tournament and it's overall prestige in comparison to the older World/Canada cups, but that would probably rapidly change with inclusion of just national teams. Maybe I misunderstood some of those posts, but isn't it then a little bit hypocritical?

A player attending a World Cup with two all-star teams says he's getting excited, it's big event - poster here says "not really believing it when a mic is stuck under their nose, they can't tell anything negative about the tournemanet really"

A player attending a World Cup with just national teams says he's getting excited, it's a big event - poster here says "oh, yeah, I could believe it, it's a valid tournament after all. Not saying they could say anything negative still, but there is at least a reason for them to like it"

The tournament looks fine outside of the gimmick teams. The village is an interesting idea, and certainly a best of three final is a good thing. The timing is also a slight positive in my opinion, since few players will be injured. The problem is solely the gimmicks.

My impression is that no one cares. In 2004 there was a little interest, but this time around despite the NHL's efforts to make something out of this event, basically no one is following the events leading up to the main thing.

Players risk injuries during the playoffs and regular season. If the WCoH means something players should risk getting injured in it too. I wanna see players willing to play with groin injuries to win this thing.

I have no idea how much effort the players will exert. It would be funny if players openly loafed on the ice, but that's pretty unlikely. Effort isn't the issue with this tournament though.

That's not true. That's a lie. That can't be true. This is the World Cup of Hockey!

I'm not going to lie, i will watch the WCH, every game!!! but for me it doesn't replace the Olympic tournament. The WHC would be the real deal if it was the top 12 nations in the world participating.

But im sure i will enjoy the WCH it will be a fun tournament to watch im sure.

TBH, I actually like intl. tournaments being one-game-takes-all, especially if prior rounds didnt feature the same format. A deserving team can be just as likely to be eliminated in a semi now as before.

The drama can go both ways too. A best-of-3 can just as equally drag if the two teams that got through end up being mismatches like Canada and CR, Would anyone really have wanted to watch Canada dominate easily again against Sweden in a 2nd game?

Yes, I truly would have enjoyed this thing.
