WORLD CUP 2022

We should have a fresh thread for this tournament so we can keep the useless club banter to the bantz thread. Just a quick reminder to not freak out when I spend the whole time shitting on the Americans. I included both times to help our European friends.

Have a favorite since Gli Azzurri is sitting this one out? I always lean towards Germany due to my lineage but I’m feeling Messi andArgentina are on a vision quest.

Portugal is probably my favorite but Ronaldo’s recent antics have made my hatred of him spill into the national team.

Since this is being played in the middle of the season rather than at the end for most players, it should in theory be the best played World Cup right?

France probably has the most talented roster top to bottom - at least in my Fifa mind. Some of the guys left off would start for other countries. Easy group although Denmark is quite pesky.

Portugal is also loaded, but they always seem to underachieve sans the 2016 Euros. Looks like a fairly manageable group even with a formidable Uruguay squad.

Brazil is obviously loaded, but Serbia and Switzerland are sneaky good UEFA teams. Serbia in particular has some attacking talent.

Belgium seems like they missed their window but have arguably the best player in the tournament. Croatia is always solid.

Tough draw for Germany and Spain. Either could win the whole thing or not escape the group stage. Japan dominated the US in a WC warmup which I'm not sure says more about them or the US. :dunno: Germany's dark kits are great too btw.

Group A looks like the weakest which you would expect from a Group that has the host nation which shouldn't be hosting. Netherlands are a darkhorse to take it all after missing the last tournament. Senegal has stars but sounds like Mane is going to miss some if not all of the group stage.

England has the talent to win the whole damn thing, but it doesn't seem like their pre-tournament form will allow it. It'll be a competitive group but I don't see anyone outside of England making noise. England's red kits are 🔥.

Argentina took down Brazil in the last Copa America and destroyed Italy a few months ago. Always deep in attacking talent. Mexico is fading. Poland should have enough to advance.

Italy easily takes this if they qualified.

Besides the obvious with the USMNT, i've long had the same thinking with Germany when it comes to lineage so they're at the top. After that Netherlands always have great blouses so they'll always have my adoration. Argentina i'd like to do well for Dybala's sake but at the same time they have messed around with him for too long to benefit from it.

Back in the late 80’s my grand parents went on a trip to Italy and brought me back AC Milan swag of Van Basten, Gulliet and Rykaird (sp) so always had a liking for the Dutch..... and yes, those kits are amazing.

I’m obviously rooting for USA also but I like how there are no clear favorites. Should be a good tournament outside of the location.

Where is Sweden? The LA Whalers are filing a grievance.
Anyone come across a good per team preview by any chance? I know nothing here.

Really really pissed about iran and their current sitaution. Used to support them as always but the fact the the players actually support the regime (or were just cowards and bent the knee) put so many of their supporters off. Hope they get demolished :(

Now rooting for Dutch and Portuguese side as I have family there.
