Would like to see the Jays try and take advantage of Beltre's lack of mobility. I'd get Revere to try and bunt down the 3rd base line to start the game.

It would be a good test. I'd like to see Revere and Goins give it a shot given they're both left handed batters against Hamels .. Need to expose any weakness

Tepera and Hawkins have the best numbers against lefties out of our pen...:help:

I'm scared.

Please go 7+ Stro....pretty please?

Really hope we don't have to worry about a situational lefty matchup. I'd like a comfortable lead.

Dickey and Estrada both have good numbers against lefties and at Rogers Centre. I don't think you'll see Tepera or Hawkins at all this game unless it goes 20 innings.

Ok, you're right. Estrada against the lefties and let's hope we don't go extras. Maybe we'll be ok.

Only would work on a perfect bunt and even then...The pitcher or Catcher will probably get it.

I know they haven't said the exact "personal issues" but at this point I do believe Loup would have had to have a death in the family, and likely immediate family too.

I'm calling it, the winning run will be a late inning suicide squeeze with Goins bunting towards Beltre and Pompey (running for Colabello) scoring the run

I'd do it until Texas figures out how to deal with it. Because unless Hamels or Chirinos get to it that is an automatic hit for anyone. There is no way Beltre is going to be able to get to the ball fast enough even if he's playing in. Watching him run in game 4 was amazing..this guy has 0 and I mean 0 mobility right now.

doesn't have to be a perfect bunt at all. Hamels or Chirinos aren't going to be able to throw a guy like Revere or Goins out if the ball is placed in a decent spot down the 3rd base line. There is no way Beltre is getting to it, it's going to put a ton of pressure on both Hamels and Chirinos all game long to continue to get to the balls and be able to throw them out. It's a very difficult play to come off the mound grab the ball turn and throw a guy like Revere out on a consistent basis especially once he's thrown a good number of pitches during the game. Beltre is a non factor at 3rd or at least he should be exploited down there.

Also remember Hamels is a lefty so naturally he's falling off to the 1st base side after each pitch. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Revere begin the game with a bunt

Still put pressure on the defense to make a play. I think guys like Revere and Goins should definitely try it and challenge a team that has committed a lot of errors this year. Small ball is needed from your depth players in these games

Yes! We need to put more pressure on the Rangers. Steal bases, hit and run, tag up, etc. Hamels is stingy.

I think even some of the big boys will have to play some small ball. If there is a runner on 1st and a shift on you have to look to flick the ball through the right side even if you want to play hero and hit a HR. If Hamels has his control today(keeping the ball down) you have to adjust the approach to get some opposite field hits and put runs up that way. Every run matters in a game like this so we will have to find multiple ways of manufacturing them. I highly doubt we can just bomb our way into the ALCS....but the Cubs did so who knows.

As long as they keep working the count like they did in G3/4 they'll be fine. In G1/2 they got into hitters counts and got too anxious and still swung at pitcher's pitches. Last two games they just kept waiting. If they do that we're playing on Friday.

I think Hamels gets the start ... but any trouble Gallardo will be in quickly.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=b&team=TOR&year=2015

Jays Batting average is quite a bit better vs. LHP.

Lefties: .278
Righties: .266

I did see one statistical anomaly.
Texas has a very high BA on the first pitch (even better than the Jays) .372
They also have a low BA for 1-0 count .305

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=b&team=TEX&year=2015

Jays:
First pitch: .350
1-0 count: .371

http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=b&team=TOR&year=2015

Maybe Stroman could worry less about throwing strikes on the first pitch ?

Or...just bury the sinker consistently if they're first pitch swinging.
