They all really think, from Shanny to the core that it is just a matter of time and they will win a cup some random year. They think they are doing things fine enough to win, just need more tries. This is professional sports boys. Nearly a decade of falling on our face with no changes is unheard of.

This year the plan seems to be to score 2 or 3 goals and then collapse and let our goaltending hold the lead for 40+ minutes. Should work out great in the playoffs..

When you watch recent cup contenders they usually hit this curve in development where they really figure it out and it’s just all business. Tampa Bay had that pre-pandemic breakout with record number of regular season wins, then went full throttle in 2020. Colorado Avalanche got superheated in 2021. Florida was a pandemic wagon before retooling. Vegas was probably not as obvious right before they won. Edmonton looks like they’re on another level. Toronto just doesn’t look like it’s hitting new levels or really changing who they are.

The technology is needs as far as offsides. The game has sped up so fast the officials brains can process it fast enough.

You could have some combination of eye in the sky calling down. They could have puck telemetry in real time to ascertain an offside and just call down as it happens.

There was never any controversy over missed calls when there was no instant replay and there was no technology to be able to see it on the bench in time to complain. There were offside calls missed and coaches complaining about them back in the 60s (and probably earlier), but video evidence was only available long after the game was over.

In effect, it was broken by technology.
No controversy?? Are you serious? Coaches were yelling at refs non-stop in the 90's and the replays were shown back then and confirmed they missed calls. It was an absolute disaster.

Didn't like the 2nd or 3rd goal, especially not the 2nd but when they NEEDED a save they got it, in fact they got 2.

Still not sure if that last one would have counted but he made the save.

I don't think that is necessarily true. If the linesman has an unobstructed view, he makes the right call almost all the time. They have also been told to not call it unless it is clear - most times it doesn't result in a goal, so it speeds up the game. If a goal is scored, then the technology can come into play.

Again we're at the point mentioned earlier that calling every offside even if the puck is cleared immediately slows down the game, likely alot more than the occasional video review for a challenge.

I would have no issue with something like that which would only be accessed in the event of a challenge.

I said there was no controversy "when there was no replay available".

The technology created the replay availability, which created the controversy, which resulted in the challenges.

Ahh yes, ignore technology. Definitely the right thing to do. This is honestly hard to fathom that people are suggesting this.

Would have been nice to have had some video replay on Gretzky v. Gilmour. But let them play, he said.
