3-0 , they stop playing and we've got thst result.

Some time goalie step up to help the guy in front who dont necessairly playing great, sometime player in front step up when goalie dont have a pretty good game, that's hockey.

1st game of a long road trip in the west, got 2 pts reset and be better next game. Just hope Matthews/Marner finish to be split... Marner was so great without Matthews and since he came back, i don't like his game as much. He's not as good

just go with
Knies-Matthews-Domi
pacioretty-tavares-Marner
Mcmamn- Holmberg ( until leafs find a better option like gourde or kunin)-Nylander

and roll with those 3 line please...
Let's put the teams seasons best goal scorer, total and per game, on the third line with Holmberg, that'll show em.

If he wins the rocket he's going on the 4th line next year. He must be stopped.

These kinds of calls are already wildly inconsistent between ref to ref and game to game. Goalies that are barely touched and a goal is called back. Goalies that you see are significantly interfered with are sometimes called good goals.

At least with offside goals you can reduce the number of goals being called back if you simply say any offside challenge will be played back at normal speed and if you can't tell whether a player is offside or not easily then they're considered onside. Plain and simple. I don't know why we need to bring out the magnifying glass and slow down the video to frame by frame to see if someone's skate is 'offside' by an inch or two. If that's the level of detail you need to go to for determining an offside or not, then obviously they were close enough to the line to be 'nearly onside' and that should be good enough.
Dude, that's so dumb. If you start doing that then 2.5 inches will start to be complained about. The NHL needs to take as much subjectivity out of calls as possible, not add more in like you're advocating. I really appreciate the black and white calls being called to perfection. If only we could do that with goalie interference and sometimes kicking motion nonsense.

A win is a win but that was not a good game by most of the Leafs. Woll had to stand on his head to get the two points. It was a good first period but after that they lost almost every puck battle. Great game by Woll, Tanev and McCabe. Very average game by the core 4. Brutal game by Benoit, Domi, Rielly, Timmins, and the fourth line.

-Hes not pretty good with JT and Marner had been by far better with
-He had been trash with Domi most of the time he played with

so if you want Matthews marner Nylander all carrying their own line like i want, option actually are pretty thin right now so that's why i said until leafs find a better option

Tbh, as good as Woll was and as beautiful as some of those saves were, I think he could've had the best goaltending performance of the year and got the shutout. All three that got buy him he often saves. Still an obviously impressive performance by the Woll tn.

Yeah and while we’re it let’s start counting posts and crossbars as goals. What’s an inch or two here and there? What are these details and rules anyway?

Before all that, let's prioritize activating our best current goal scorer to score goals. It might come in handy when we need it.

Like is see this its kind of duo

Knies-Matthews working well together
JT-Marmer working well together
Mcmann-Nylander I think Mcmann speed and intensity working pretty well with Nylander game

after put option remaining domi, pacioretty, robertson, holmberg...

Like i said i didn't liked Nylander game with Domi so i put him with Matthews with who he had a lot of succes last season. Pacioretty had is a winger amd had succes with JT too this seaso .. so the Cemter remaining, Holmberg, Kampf, Dewar... So try to find an optio to play behind both in playoff. The goal is not to looking sexy game 53 of regular season but creating something who will make team better in playoff.

And leafs would still able to double shift Nylander at time during game exemple with knies and matthews or with Marner and JT...

I dont disagree with any of that but i think you're getting lost in the details.

Starting at the top, the first question when designing the offensive system is: do Matty and Willy play together, or do we have a Matty L1 and Willy L2 to put the puck in the net.

The rest slot in to activate the plan.

We've probably lost games already on the back of poor Willy deployment. If you have him on the third line with Holmberg you have to circle back and see where you went wrong.

1-For years, the biggest part of Nylander 5v5 production is coming off the rush, creating scoring chance with his speed. He will not get more breakaway or 2v1 playing with Matthews.

2- personally i would not call it a 3rd line... For me its just 3 different line to help the team to be even more dangerous, especially when you see secondary scoring had been trash all year long so creating 3 line able to contribute, it would just be great so exemple one night matthews line doesn't play well, The nylander would not have all the pressure to carry the team like its actually the case and most of the time that's doesn't work and leafs losing those game.
By spliting all 3. If matthews line struggle, you still having marner line and Nylander line who can overcome it.

3-Florida when they reach their 1st stanley cup, Tkachuk was playing with Nick Cousins s big part of playoff and had his best carreer playoff.

When Kessel was in race for conn smythe, he was playing with Bonino and hagelin, probably the worst line in paper he ever played in playoff.

So playing with non-sexy player doesn't necessairly mean that will make Nylander worst or whatever

Before getting into all of that, in one sentence what is your overall vision for our offensive system?

Mine is: 'Matty L1 and Willy L2 to put the puck in the net'.

I disagree. I find it super lame and dumb that a great play leading to a goal can be called back for someone being 'offside' by an inch or two of a line. Like I said if you can't tell if a player is offside at normal speed then that means they were barely offside if that. As a fan IT SUCKS to get all excited over a goal being scored and then a few minutes later it gets called back over a stupid 'offside' that didn't really matter to the entire play. Maybe you're fine with it, but I'm not and I find it really has killed some of the excitement I had for the NHL.

The same thing goes for all these stupid ticky tacky penalties where merely touching a player is a penalty these days instead of just letting players play on.
I agree.
I mean when they call offside, they never go to review it and see if they really made the right call or not.

I think it should just go back to the old days where there is no video review but there should be a video ref and when this ref sees an infraction, he/she will tell the on ice ref and make the call.

Get Matthews marner and nylander carrying their own line to get 3 dangerous line...
Fair enough, both our strategies could work.

Matty L1 and Willy L2 to put the puck in the net and Marner L3 to get a dangerous third line.

Now we fill in the rest to activate those objectives.

So what would be your measurements that you would allow someone to be off side and how would you accurately measure it. I’m guessing there would be multiple challenges……….because no matter what extra you allow what if your allowance was exceeded by 1 more inch? Do you let that go or extend it yet another inch
The lame penalties I agree with you
Like I said, go by the eye test. If you see the play at normal speed and it wasn't called offside then that's that. Isn't that what officials do for the entire game all the time when a goal isn't scored but they don't call an offside when players seem like they might be offside? Why should this be any different only because someone scored?

Only time a goal should be called back on an offside is if its so obvious that an official sees it in real time and calls it like they always do. Again if it requires you to do frame by frame analysis to figure out if a player is offside or not, then they're not offside.

My only way of coping with the last 2 or so months or lackluster and inconsistent hockey is that maybe they'll peak at the right time by the end of the season. Getting healthy would be a big boost too. I just hope they aren't wasting this good goaltending.

Its PURE STUPIDITY that you need to do frame by frame video analysis to figure out if a player is 'offside' or not. If that's the level you need to go to then its pretty obvious that the player was more than close enough to the line that you can't tell if they were offside or not in real time.

This is what officials do all the time in every game and they let it go unless its an obvious offside because who wants to stop the game to check if every close offside is really an offside? No one ever cares because no goal is scored and they just keep playing. This shouldn't be any different just because a goal is scored.

This feels like the hockey way, let's not turn into football. Let em play.

Yeah and while we’re it let’s start counting posts and crossbars as goals. What’s an inch or two here and there? What are these details and rules anyway?
Except that's obviously different from an offside. You need to put the puck in the net past the line. That's different from an offside where there are numerous times in every single NHL game where officials see a player that might have gone offside, but its so close that they let it go and allow the play to continue and no one cares. The only time anyone cares about these close offsides that happen many times per game is when a goal is scored.

Again its pretty simple where if you need frame by frame video replay to determine an 'offside' then its obvious that the player is close enough to the line that in real time no officials on the ice saw it an offside. NHL needs to stop ruining games and fan interest with these stupid rules that remove otherwise good goals on a good play simply because you slow-moed it enough to see that a player might've been 'offside' by an inch or something.

Its very simple. If no official can tell in real time as the play is happening if a player is offside or not, then it probably means they were close enough to the redline that they were onside. If there's a offside challenge and you replay the video at normal speed and you can't easily see that player being offside, then they're considered onside.

If a player is actually offside then you should be able to easily see it at normal speed just like the officials call players offside many times per game without any video replay required to see if that player is offside or not. Any offside review that requires you to slow down the video to frame by frame to tell if a player is offside or not means they're not offside.

Or how about if they are offside they are offside.
