It's just a good crop of players, this team is very deep for Latvian standards.

Latvians are always gritty and well-organized, that's not the reason why we're hanging in today.

Latvia never backed down when they played Czechia in pre tournament action, they have chemistry, speed, and work ethic. And that’s all you need.

I certainly don’t think this will hold though, USA is going to win this game.

Well Abols as a head coach definitely deserves recognition. Latvia always had this "whoever coaches some other junior Latvian team" mentality when appointing head coaches. Tambijevs is probably the only one of the past coaches who could hold a candle to Abols, and even he was nobody when he coached the U-20. Finaly we have a coach with actual big league and international experience. And even if it just coinsided with a deep team once in a while, he still should be acknowledged.
