I gotta hand it to them, they should be getting crushed but they are as they say.................making the most of their opportunities.Into which net?
Well done on the tying goal by the Latvians.
It's just a good crop of players, this team is very deep for Latvian standards. This Latvian team has been incredibly impressive two tournaments in a row now. Credit to the coach as well, clearly a group playing above its means putting every bit of what they have into this to a man.
Not only is the team well coached but there is talent there to score, too - they make the most of all their opportunitys. This group is going to be extremely interesting
Team USA’s defense is entirely comprised of scrawny offensive defensemen. The group will be terrifying on the transition but my god, they are going to lose every netfront battle in their own end.
As did Canada.Should also note that Latvia went for size amongst their forwards, too.
Well Abols as a head coach definitely deserves recognition. Latvia always had this "whoever coaches some other junior Latvian team" mentality when appointing head coaches. Tambijevs is probably the only one of the past coaches who could hold a candle to Abols, and even he was nobody when he coached the U-20. Finaly we have a coach with actual big league and international experience. And even if it just coinsided with a deep team once in a while, he still should be acknowledged. It's just a good crop of players, this team is very deep for Latvian standards.
Latvians are always gritty and well-organized, that's not the reason why we're hanging in today.
You could make an argument for both but I'd give Latvia the credit so far.USA crapping the bed or is Latvia playing great?
Love the crowd noise after the Latvian goal!
