It's been on the NHL Network for years. I don't get that network anymore since switching from Comcast to YouTube TV. I have to use "alternate means" of watching.
In years past I have done a free 1 week trial of fubo tv or Sling tv, in order to watch the tournament.

This is my opinion too. I have a cable package strictly for the NHL network since it shows the WJC, Hlinka, April U-18's. Prospect games, rounds 2-7 of NHL Draft, etc..
Only one game a day will be on ESPN+ on the days where four games are on. Reason being if the SWE-SVK game goes into OT or just over the time slot, NHL network needs to go live to USA v Germany next. So ESPN+ picks up that game.
They need to get this tournament off NHL network though, I think it's run it's course on there. If they put all games at least on ESPN plus then way more people would be continuously exposed to it that are just average hockey fans in the US. To your point, less and less people get NHL network here because everyone is going to streaming packages that don't carry it. Just imagine if that CAN v US NYE game was on one of the main ESPN networks here? People would be like "holy shit, I don't know any of these players but this game is incredible." And that's how you build more fans. It'd be tough though because now through the first week of January is College Football playoff / bowl season and ESPN carries most of those games.

The World Juniors is an amazing event for the sport of hockey and that is exactly why a partner like ESPN or TNT needs to get the rights

thanks for the info on that. I was probably switching YTTV back to Sling to get NHLNetwork after the most recent price hike for YTTV, but if it's free on a different service that's even better.

Looking at Tubi right now. The live schedule grid does not show any WJC games on today. Seems to only show pre-recorded programming on their NHL channel. That's what I saw last time I checked out Tubi looking for ways to get the NHL Network.
FYI, I am accessing Tubi via a Roku streaming box.
Same. Old kraken outdoor game on now when nhl.com says the game should be on nhl network

Hmmmm, my apologies if Tubi did not work. I had caught a game or two before the holiday break and the WJC. It's possible they were reruns, but I'm not positive.
