Sorry that Russia didnt change its clocks for you.

They have to fix the world's rotation so that all areas of the world are in the sunlight at the same time.... THEN fix their clocks. To EST only.

I can't get up at 4 to watch us lose, or win. Thankfully the GMG is at a decent time if we make it that far.

First off, edit because I think you're challenging because you think I'm referring to past seasons to include the 11/12 season and I guess it can be read and inferred as that. I implied seasons prior to the last season.

First off, i was referring to highlights from past seasons as in seasons before last year which we can all assume needs no further detailing. I didn't say anything about an effective Dubinsky from the 11/12 season. If anything, I said what you're saying now about his let down performance in the 11/12 season. I said he was one of our most effective players in consistently creating offense and being effective, on or off the scoreboard before last season. Aside from Gaborik, Dubinsky was probably our 2nd or 3rd most dominant player in terms of being able to not only score goals and make plays but also cycle and grind in the offensive zone. Even when he was off the score board in the seasons before the 11/12 season, he would still be consistent with playing with an edge and making thing happen more so than a majority of our players in those seasons in terms of both consistently doing so and in terms of impact.

I didn't really get into the transitioning of game plan and obviously a higher calibre player than Dubinksy Backs a more durable and offensively potent game plan. I'm not much of a dubie fan, not as much as a lot of other people on HFNYR so I'm not arguing somr ludicrous point in favor of him. The disappearance of Dubinsky was a detriment and a huge let down because of what is expected from him. Having that said, before the 11/12 season, he was a solid all around player who was consistent with various aspects of play A majority of the time even when he's not producing on the scoresheet. That's all.

You asked me how he was effective and threw a rhetorical "because you say so?" Question to boot. How wasn't he effective in his seasons before 11/12?

Hell, he wasn't completely ineffective last season either. He still executed on certain aspects, scored some goals playing on a demoted line and without PP minutes. He wasn't a defensive liability or guilty of bad turn overs, penalties and lackluster efforts.

I think Dubinsky will be one of those guys who plays very good hockey on a mediocre team as one of the leaders.. I could see him tossing up 50 points with solid two-way play getting top 6 minutes with Columbus. I just think he's passed the point of doing that here. He wouldn't do that as a complimentary piece on this team. He also makes too much $ to stick around as that complimentary piece. I really believe he'll take a step forward in the right direction this year. With that said, this trade gives the Rangers the scorer that they truly needed... the scorer Dubi will never be.

Is this the World Junior Dubinsky thread now? LOL.

Anyway, I'd DVR the game tomorrow, but there's no way I can keep myself from looking at the score when I wake up. And I refuse to watch recorded sporting events when I already know the results. I'll still DVR it, but unless I find out something magical happened, there's no way I'll actually watch it.

Im in the same boat, although given the lack of hockey over the last several months, I might watch it after work tomorrow despite the fact I'll know the results.

My father-in-law DVR's all Sunday football games and starts watching them after dinner. He doesnt understand how I just cant do that. I cant explain why either. Just cant do it.

Ya, that's a good point. He's thrown down into the 3rd line now with the talent we have for our top 6. This Columbus move might be the best thing to happen to his career trajectory.

I'll probably try to get to sleep early and wake up to watch the game vs Canada tomorrow.

That is unless we start getting reports about the CBA negotiations. To hell with sleep if that happens.

Team is so hot and cold.

Hopefully they carry the hot streak against Canada, but I doubt it.

I didn't watch the USA game, but looking at the boxscore, Miller had 1+2. For anyone who watched, did he play well, aside from the points?

He did. The Johnny Hockey line is the best line atm and Miller does some of the dirty work on that line. A nice passing play on the primary assist. A shot from the point went off of Miller on a 5 on 3 and into the net. He played well but nothing spectacular.

Although, in a game where the team routed the other team, it's hard to not play well.

I watch all my Rangers hockey on the west coast at 4PM so I'm used to the awkward game times  I don't sleep either so I've been watching a lot of WJC games this year

He was definitely involved in alot of chances. Easily his best of the tourney imo.

The two assists were nice plays but the goal was just ridiculous. He did that jump that guys screening the goalie on point shots do and it hit him anyway

I think Miller has played the same way the entire tournament. He's been very involved, all over the place, but he hasn't gotten any puck luck and he's made some very poor decisions.

Tonight he got the puck luck, but nothing else seemed different. His pass on Gaudreau's hattrick was wonderful, but he still made plenty of plays where he held onto the puck too long or lost it.

Definitely impressed today, but I have been the entire tournament. I think he has outplayed nearly every other forward over the entire tournament.

Jacob Trouba is just something else. So is Gibson. Those two are this team's superstars.

And I still can't get over how bad Sieloff's hockey sense is.

This is actually why I kind of dislike watching WJC hockey, etc. Guys spend too much time trying to be fancy or make great plays and instead turn the puck over a ton. It's not just Miller, just about every single player who plays in the WJC plays this way. It seems very rare that a team plays good fundamentals and pro style hockey, and instead it's just every guy out there for himself trying to dazzle and make plays he probably can't consistently make, so that the scouts will notice him and Pierre McGuire will talk him up on draft day

i agree with Miller's consistency. John G. picking up confidence and scoring goal certainly lifts that line right up.

Good point. I was talking about how Miller "needed more swagger or pep in his step" but maybe that's just everyone else showing off :dunno:

I mean, it does make sense to some degree. Teams are put together for a short time and they're not pro level teams, they're just collections of talented but immature players playing in a short tournament.

Players want to stand out, or are used to being able to beat everyone on talent like they sometimes can in juniors, or whatever, but it often makes for some really sloppy hockey.

A big part of pro level hockey isn't just how talented you are, but how well you can play a team game and minimize your mistakes while still being productive. Trying to dangle through everyone all the time, like what occurs at the WJC level, doesn't really cut it at the NHL level, but players can get by at the lower levels.

Really I guess I'm just complaining about the lack of structure and team play in these tournaments which is a bit of a silly thing to complain about :)

Finally got to watch this. Really good game for Miller overall IMO, stats not even factoring into it. 2nd assist to Gaudreau was a thing of beauty.

On a non-NYR note, the best player in the tourney by far to this point has been Jake Trouba. Not the best player for the US - the best player in the tourney. Just dominant in all 3 zones.
