Malkin is a beaut...........I can't wait too see him in Pittsburgh next year....the NHL needs more wonderful talented players like this too be sure!!

Hope the US can pull this out but I enjoy both of these teams so it won't be a grave loss too me if Mother Russia wins!!!

The much hyped and so-called stacked U.S.A. forward group is 1 period away from being shut-out.

I have to say, I've been really impressed with Erik Johnson. He simply doesn't give up on the puck. It doesn't matter who he plays against, invariably he comes away with the puck and is skilled enough to spring a forward with a great pass. Awesome. As much as I like Kessel, I could see Johnson getting the nod at 1st overall.

The Americans looked done after the first, but they had plenty of jump in the second. They've got to get some bodies in front of that sieve.

Refs suck... First a PP to the US on a clear russian dive, than 2 PP to the US without any penalty.

Better play by the US in the second, but still scroing chances are on russian side.

V pereeed rossija!!!!

I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but IMO the U.S. blew their chance to seize control of this game. Not that it's over, but it doesn't look good, even being down one.

IMO the game is all but over. I was sickened to hear the same PP lines being thrown out there considering how important that PP was. If Schremp isn't out with Kessel at least on the PP at this point, then Kyle needs to be banned from hockey period. Truly pathetic, this team is getting destroyed in every way except on the score-board. Sure the US out shot them, but Russia's PK has been as dangerous or even more dangerous than the US PP. BTW-Schremp needs to stop passing the puck to JJ who tries to score un-screened shots from the blue-line!!! What a joke this team is. :shakehead :madfire:

I hope Malkin re-enters the draft (Euros can do that now right, after a 3 year period though?)

And Crosby is going to be a Hab at age 25 . . . :sarcasm:

As for Malkin:

"I see myself in the NHL next year in Pittsburgh," Malkin said through an interpreter yesterday. "Crosby is a very exciting player and I have seen a lot of his best moments on television. I think he is a leader on the team who can eventually lead the team to a Stanley Cup, and I am looking forward to playing with him."

Should be a fantastic third period.
This has been a terrific game no matter who wins.
Whoever has more jam in the third period is gonna be giving Canada fits on Thursday. I suspect the loser will take the bronze medal versus Finland.
Cory Schneider has to be huge the rest of the way for the Americans...hopefully, he will be.

Very true. Who would have thought the strengths of this team would have been goaltending and defense? The infamous "chemistry" looks like it might bite the U.S. in the rear here. These guys just don't seem to have a strong feel for each other, which is a shame, because if the offense would have been as good as advertized, this game would probably be out of reach by now.

Isn't that a Romanov Eagle in the Avatar? Cool, but interesting mixture with your post.

What are you talking about? The first PP was clearly a Russian pulling down Oshie and the second PP was Malkin blatently hitting Jack Johnson in the face with his stick!

Of course, has the US done anything with these chances? No. Not by Kessel. Not by Bourque. Not by "Power Play Wonderboy" Robbie Schremp. Not by Mueller. Not by anyone really.

For all the griping 1-0 speaks of two very evenly matched hard playing teams. Pretty much what I would have expected from two of the favorites in the tournament going at one another. Canada was just lucky that they avoided this matchup. The US got what it deserved by losing that game, but Russia really got screwed, going undefeated and then having to play this game.

The U.S.A. forwards think hockey is supposed to be five games of 1-on-1, rather than one game of 5-on-5.

Too many players trying to do it all themselves, while the rest of the team stands around and watches.

Not trying to slam Skille, but I expected a lot more from him. Is the whole "Kessel factor" bothering the kid??? Game one, hopefully this team get's their *** in gear.

yeah i know i read that article, I wasn;t being serious though.

Although didn;t he say something about playing in the spengler cup next year in a recent rushockey interview?

wooo... 2-0 Russia!

Kulemin blows by Oiler Draft pick Chorney.. haha.

2-0 Russia.

That might be the game, since U.S.A. just can't get their offense together.

Cory Schneider has impressed me as much as anyone so far. And the US forwards have dissapointed me just as much. Eric Johnson is an absolutely thrilling prospect - I haven't seen a guy as able and capable as him in years. He is better than Phaneuf at 17.

This US team is getting all of their productivity from the guys who were the big question marks two weeks ago. Too bad Schremp and a lot of other US skill players have been a failure so far. I can't see the US coming out of this game victorious.
