What was the final score and how was Scott.
Team played much better this game compared to Switzerland. It's not as a dominance performance as 2015, 2017, or 2018 when we had stronger rosters, but still a strong game. The 4th line got on the scoresheet which is nice to see, all lines scored a point. Defence looked better, but it's clear that Phillips, Brook and McIsaac are the weaklinks on the team. McIsaac and Brook didn't look bad this game, but they aren't difference makers unfortunately. Phillips was the wrong choice on this team, not quick, not big, not strong offensively or defensively.
Overall though, team looks good and I think even though the Canadian team doesn't look as strong as other years, it still might be the best team in the tournament because of a weaker age group.
How did Lafreniere and Veleno play?
I only watched the first half of the game but they both looked good. Entwhistle and Bowers dont really look like theyre on Velenos level offensively or else that line could be dangerous. They do control the puck a lot though and got on the score sheet last night. Veleno strikes me as a guy that could get moved up the line up if someone isnt producing, depsite only having one point so far hes looked dangerous.
Lafreniere also looked really solid. I think hell have a pretty solid tournament. 3 or 4 goals fora guy his age would be really good
Dobson is looking like a real mess. At this pace, just scratch him. Brook, Bouchard and Mitchell all appear as superior options heading in to the tourny. A RD side of Bouchard- Brook- Mitchell is amazing imo.I thought Bowers had a really good game last night... Great motor, his goal was incredibly skilled. I do agree that Veleno needs to move up though.
Thought Tippett looked pretty skilled out there, dont get the complaints he works hard and is the trigger man filling the perfect role on that line.
I havent seen alot of chemistry on the middle two lines, id like to see Frost in the middle maybe try these lines and see how it goes.
Comtois Glass Tippett
Lafrennier Hayton Studnika
Veleno Frost Suzuki
Anderson-Dolan Bowers Entwhistle
I thought the D core wasnt very good again last night overall. Dobson had a really rough game, Smith makes good plays then bone head plays. Dont know how Mcisaac made the team, I really think Kevin Bahl should have atleast got an invite. He is an absolute rock on the 67's, plays all the hard minutes and has a great motor for a guy thats 6'5 with a really solid first pass.
Brook impressed me, his first pass and mobility might be the best on the team after Bouchard, play him in his proper place and see what he can do.
