WJC must be rescheduled for the summer

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
Just stop trying to hold shit in Canada and let them figure out that nobody wants to deal with their insane restrictions.

With this omicron being highly transmissible but way weaker than other variants, it can work as a natural vaccine. It won't surprise me, if COVID will completely disappear to the summer.
Same narrative one former US president said few years back. We’ll see about that. It might be that immunity for omicron only lasts for a little time.

WHO also reminded Delta hasnt faded so basically omicron just filled the void space … only hoping that omicron immunity would help against delta. Otherwise it’s a double threat

But each genius who transmits it can be the potential starting point of another variant.
Dude this virus is already jumping from people to animals and back. And billions of people in developing countries will keep spreading it forever no matter what lockdowns others would do. It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Covid is never going away, and every year there will be a new variant. Forever. And every year there will be new covid shots you should take. But life must continue. Without lockdowns and restrictions. Unless we want a permanent virus hysteric dystopia with no free movement and actual in person social interaction.

P.S I am both diabetic and asthmatic, so I understand the risks. But I’ll take my chances with my vaccines in a free world rather than watch us waste our lives with these lockdowns and restrictions.

Or maybe we should help the vaccination effort in poorer countries. That would help TREMENDOUSLY!

I don't see how they make another tournament. It would be impossible to keep the same rosters given injuries, other commitments, and the possibility of some players turning 20 and being ineligible. Not to mention the logistic problems of scheduling, new training camps to find new rosters (which pulls them from other leagues for weeks) and other messes

Injuries may happen before summer, there likely won't be any other commitments though for the players at that time. Some of them turning 20 might not be an issue if the rule is that if they were eligible in December 2021, they can g.
Scheduling / training camps, pulling from other leagues, would that be a problem in June/July when there is no other hockey? Sounds like they are considering summer.

It would be cool if they could, but at this point the IIHF has stepped on their collective dick with how they handled this one. Can we trust that they will work out details like testing and quarantine, taxi squads... hell having them in as much of a bubble as possible when or if they try it again?

This whole thing has been such a clown show.

World Championship is in May, which is when CHL playoffs should be wrapping up. The NHL draft is the first week of July, with prospect camps normally not too far behind that.

The window would be small.

I'm not going to lie if somehow this tournament can be played just before the NHL draft that would be amazing.

Imagine the gold medal game being played on a Tuesday or Wednesday and the draft on Friday / Saturday.

Every NHL team would know where they are drafting, All the top prospects showcasing their talents, players draft stocks rising and falling ect.

Most of the players in the tournament are already drafted.

Right after World Championships and before the draft. I think the window might be just enough.

I wonder if teams will be willing to let their top picks play. Say the tournament is in late July.... will whatever team drafts Wright want him to play in the tourny knowing training camp is only 6 weeks away? What if he gets a serious injury?

On the flip side... hopefully teams will let guys who are already in the NHL this year, play in a potential summer tournament.

Either way the IIHF would be smart to make up for this catastrophe.

Thats right around when CHL playoffs end and the Memorial Cup begins. So you'd be potentially missing a good chunk of players.
