WOW, Russia has 1 shot even strength. If this ref calls a few of the Russian dives and gives Canada a few powerplays this game could be over in the second period.

On a side note, either Canada is covering Ovechkin well or he's not there.

Are the penalties 5-1 right now? What BS!

I like how they have the goal horn going and playing "celebration" after Russia scores when 99% of the crowd is cheering for Canada.

Anyone else find that funny?

that's something that has really dissapointed me about ovechkin...he is a serious crybaby, looking to the officials for a penalty after any bit of contact that stops him from having his way

Nice line Pierre. The truth too. Russians are diving all over the place.

Solid first period. Glass didn't have a chance on the goal, off Dixon's stick. Just have to stay out of the box and the game shouldn't be too close.

It's still a hit. And it was a pretty nice one.
 
Malkin and Carter end up with coincidental penalties after some kind of confrontation at the buzzer. :dunno:

Good job by the ref to take control. I didn't see what happened, though.

There was nothing weak about that goal. The Russian D very wisely waited until there was traffic in front of the goal, then snapped a quick wrister through the traffic. The puck may have hit something on the way, but it was still a good play, I'd say.
 
Ovechkin doesn't impress me in this tournament... On other hand Malkin looks smooth as hell. He's so big, such a good skater, good speed, amamzing passing, hopefully he start shooting more.
 
For someone with such a good shot, Ryan Getzlaf is way too patient with the puck.
 
Carter owns! I'm serious this kid is going to be a mega star in the NHL. HOF potential in this kid! Carter really reminds me a slick Joe Thornton. Now I know why Philly loved this kid so much.

See this is why I wish it was on ESPN. Because now the only people seeing the game are biased canadians claiming everything is a dive(which it could be, but who knows when its onle canadians seeing the game).
 
why are you people crying about the penalties?

the last two were clear calls.... a crosscheck to the back after a nice hit, and the trip after the Russian DEKED the Canadian dman and was moving in on goal...stop listening to the biased TSN commentators and watch the game!!!


Anyway, Canada is looking impressive, they make the Russians seem so slow...amazing. But it's going to be a close game...the team that scores the next goal wins ;)
