I blame reffing, but second behind the team just not showing up to play. However, had the goal counted (which it SHOULD have), the US would have had a 1-0 lead and things may have played out much differently. We'll never know because they got royally screwed on that call. It's whatever. Silver is better than finishing #6.

Finland had this USA groups number at the U18s and they got them again here at the U20s. If you saw the ending of the U18s last year, you would know how tough it is for guys like Wahlstrom, Farabee, Hughes to take this loss.

Crazy to think they won the tourney with at least 3 players off the roster (in the nhl). Crazy as well that Finland prob wouldn’t even medal in the men’s tourney.

No kidding. I seriously wonder how long we can be saying this, though. Kakko in 2019, Lundell in 2020, Raty in 2021...some serious top forward talent getting set to join some fantastic young defencemen.

I guess Poehling is the incumbent “American top player to be massively overrated following the WJC?” Joining Keller, Mittelstadt, etc. In one week he will magically develop into a guaranteed 1C on here.

keller and mittelstadt were soooo much better tho. poehling has been invisible for most of the tournament. if u have to give it to an american forward at least give it to chmeleski. he at least put up stats in the knock out rounds.

USA played too cute until the third then they really turned it on. Even then they could have had this game tied or won in regulation with the non-goal & missed open nets as Ray said.

Finland made the great push at the end & had the hockey gods in their corner. Hard to believe they won without Tolvanen scoring a goal but Finland played a great team game all tournament. It was definitely the two best teams in this final.
