We will see so much this matchup in the coming years. I am sure this will be the matchup in the U18 tournament too. Two great junior hockey nations.

3-2 OT for the Finns.

So looking through this thread, U.S. is clearly the underdog to the greatest jr. team ever made, Finland. And pretty much everyone is hoping the U.S. loses. Some things never change on HF.

This has been coming. Arguably the two best teams the last few tournaments.

Really?

2015: Finland and the US both lose in the quarters.

2016: Finland wins, the US comes 3rd.

2017: Finland play in the relegation round, the US win.

2018: Finland lose in the quarters, the US comes 3rd.

In the same time frame Canada has 2 golds and one silver.

Anyway, looking forward to the game tonight.

I love Finland and its people. There's a lot of Finns who live in Minnesota. Such nice people adding to the "Minnesota Nice" nickname for Minnesotans.

As an American, I'l pulling for USA of course but it's also cool (and maybe cheesy, I don't care) that we know right now Gold and Silver are going to both countries, just not sure which one precisely yet, lol.

So go USA but still like Finland!

Team USA takes too many stupid penalties and Finland wins 4-2.
Our goalie keeps getting better game by game. Also our "big names" (frwd) are waking up.
Only way for Finland to lose is letting USA keep the puck and be too passive.

No matter what the score ends up being.

There will always be beer and fun.

There's a strange amount of confidence in the team that lost 4-1 in the first matchup in this thread.
Just to quote myself here:

When Finland won gold in 2014 and 2016, it also lost both times to the other final team during the group stage. Let's hope history repeats itself...
If everything goes just like before, Finland will win in OT and the goal will be scored by a player who was expected to be a leader but was somewhat dissapointing so far at tournament... Soo I guess Tolvanen ends it?

I have had the opportunity to get to know Selanne and much of his family through work. The friends that visit, the fun they have and yes the pride as Finnish patriots. It’s really hard not to like them, and wish nothing but the second best for them today

I mean, they really got unlucky in that Finland game. I'm not complaining, because its always fun when they crash out of a tournament especially in Canada, but that is some rotten luck.
Luck is only how hard you are willing to look for it. 14 goals against a team on the world stage???? That was cheap, and I believe in karma.
