That's not what the ref said. Ferraro said the ref stated he didn't get out "fast" enough, not that he shouldn't' have been there at all. He literally jumped right back out. It should have been a goal.

I'd also like to know how he could get out faster wearing a cloak of Finns.

It's a goal. I get the strict IIHF rule but the US player was mugged out of the crease which could have been called. Yes his skates were still technically in the crease but that's too harsh an interpretation of the rule. Or it's a rule that needs to be revisited to consider situations like this.
