Zagreb, 6-12th January

Croatia
Lithuania
Netherlands
Great Britain
China
Romania.

Lithuania with all their Swiss based prospects should cakewalk this tournament. Croatia on other side should go down to 2B - where they belong. They were just so incredibley luck last few years due to weaker competition since Russia and Belarus suspension.

Croatian hockey is in terrible state. This season will be the one where all three NT's are going to be relegated. Within five to six years I am sure Sisak will bankrupt and that is going to be the end of hockey in Croatia.

Why would Croatia hockey end if 1 team gets bankrupt? There is still Zagreb, Mladost and Medvescak.

Also if looking at prospects there is Bruno Izdan and Roko Gorsic. Who does China, Netherlands, Romania and UK have?

Because Sisak is a serious club, while Zagreb, Mladost and Medvescak are bunch of recreational players. If Sisak vanishes - it's over.

may I ask: why do you, as allegedly a Croat, have such hate for everything good in croatian hockey?

Sisak is playing well, homegrown players actually have a chance to play hockey and people there are happy, not a part of Croatia where there is lot to enjoy. Nice media attention for hockey and local guys are in the center of it.

Medvescak has its own ice rink, Dom Sportova might be repaired... all teams have made a positive leap. While yes, for some it is dressing 15 players in exYu league, but they try.

National teams are all in respectable divisions. Sure they might get relegated, but at least they got to levels which is their "upper limit"

Which state of hockey in Croatia was good? When croatian teams forfeit 1/4 of games because they couldn't dress enough players, but some AHL pylons were playing KHL?

You envy Serbia, but Serbia unfortunately doesn't even have national leagues. They need to find ways so that their federation is even recognized by IIHF. How do you envy that?

At this point in time, Nov 14 2024, state of hockey in Croatia is good. It wasn't so good in a long time. If you have any interest in success of croatian hockey: Enjoy it, life is short, we're all dust in the wind.

Can I find the squads somewhere?
Only GB is listed on Eliteprospects. Unfortunately there is nothing on the IIHF page either.

It's early-ish for the squads to be announced, the tournament is a month away. 1A tournament is few days away and some of the teams still haven't got their final roster out. Having said that, here is the Lithuanian one:

I see that Kirill Evstigneev is not there. Any other noticeable no-shows?

Also crazy to realize I know the names of some of these Swiss based kids for so many years and they will be around for many more :D

Timur Sedleckij-Razin would also definitely be there if he was able to participate. He cited personal reasons for not coming, the same as Evstingeev who is too afraid to lose his place on the new NAHL team. Which I frankly understand.

But the rest of the guys are all there.

As discussed before, unless you count Slovenian or Austrian junior leagues it's really only Gorsic this year.

Two years ago, it was probably the best Croatian roster ever, so obviously, there is no place but slowly going down. If Bruno Idzan is indeed not going to be there, it's still a good team but lacking high-impact players. With Sisak now playing in the AlpsHL it's easy to tell the difference between the skill level of Idzan brothers or Marinkovic and guys who are going to be there this year like Kasparek who has 1 assist in 14 games.
