To be quite honest I wasn't very impressed by Karlsson. The vision and positioning was there but the execution wasn't. I mean he still looked better than most of Sweden's forwards but I was expecting a little more out of him.

it was just a warm up game only depth guys had anything riding on it with cuts beaning made, only real negative was the turn over, but i think Rakell and Lindholm are the stars of show for the swedes this year, Rakell improved his offensive game to go with his solid d game and good frame i think he going to be key, and Lindholm is going to make a lot of people see why his was picked at 6

For now, if a player plays a bad game, it`s only an exhibition, but if he plays good - he`ll carry his team
I`ll wait for tournament to judge them, but i hope our future stars will shine bright :)

Well, this season he seems to have been judged primarily on his offensive numbers in the Juniors, and I have to admit, I didn't really like that at all. Based on the little I've seen of him, Rakell struck me as a player who is so much more than his stats. He seemed to have a complete game, with the type of intangibles that can make GM's salivate. The kind of player you need to see to appreciate what he can do for your team.

I just felt like it was a disservice to him to look at the stat sheet and determine that he needed to be better. With some players, I think that might be applicable, but to me Rakell is playing a professional game at the Junior level, and numbers just don't tell you that.
Getzlaf never had any outstanding numbers in the juniors either. Actually, Rakell has a better overall PPG (although Getzlaf played one more year at a younger age which biases the comparision a bit).

I know the direct comparision isn't totally justifiable, but Getzlaf has developed into a #1 center in the NHL - so I can't really see why Rakell shouldn't develop into (at least) a top6-forward with the professional game he is showing at this age.

Rakell just plays that pro style game, he seems like he's really strong for his age, he can shoot the puck, he can make plays for others, he goes to the dirty areas, he's fantastic on the walls, he can skate.

all i know is when Rakell gets on the ice with more talent he stands out in a major way, it's hard to make a point projection for him but he just plays the game alot like Zetterberg

75 points in 49 games as an 18/19 year old would disagree with that first statement but Getzlaf did put in a pretty ordinary effort in his last season in Calgary.

As for Rakell, for those that see him play often, what position has he mostly been playing and what position would he best be suited to once he makes the NHL?

He plays RW with Sweden. He plays C in Plymouth. I don't have a preference. I think he excels at both. He may end up at RW for the lack of jobs.

The Swedes looking good, today. Lindholm looks a little slower since his return from injury. I wonder if he's carrying something.

I love Lindholm but Trouba still doesn't make me wish any less that we picked him instead. He gets better every time I watch him play. We'll see how it pans out but I'm liking Trouba more.

I love his physical play, positioning, and conditioning. But I've always preferred defenders that play a physical style of game. So my opinion is biased anyway. But I'm still happy Winnipeg got him.

He's more physical, but it's not like Hampus isn't physical.

He certainly didn't have an edge on Lindholm's conditioning at the combine.

That's true. Like I said. We'll see. It's more than likely Hampus will be better but right now I'm still a fan of Trouba

Huh. Saw Lindholm played 25 minutes. Damn, that's a lot for an exhibition game.

Rakell threatened a lot, looked good, but he and the rest of his line - the entire team, really - struggled to finish.

I thought Karlsson looked better today. I noticed him more in the defensive and neutral zones.

Hampus had a good game. The puck got up ice whenever he was out there. He set up some nice opportunities, but the lack of finish by his peers put a bit of a damper on things.

Gibson had a rough start. If he plays like this in Ufa, he'll be backing up Sparks.

It's not looking good for Elias Lindholm. He didn't play in the third.

Elias looked great on Swedens only goal, other than that, I didn't notice him too often.

Hampus is just so smooth, didn't catch one mistake from him and his breakout passes were as precise as they come.
