Yeah, you guys really are so negative.
Andersson is not a 4th liner or Fast or Lindberg. This guy will very likely be a decent 2nd line forward.
He plays center, very well rounded player, incredibly high floor. He'll be a good NHL'er, and play in the NHL within a season or two.
In a bad draft like this, thats not a bad pick. We took the NHL'er, not the risky player. I didn't have him 7th, I had him 19th, but that was because I wanted an upside pick. We didn't pick a bad player. I don't agree with the strategy, but I do agree that we picked an NHL'er.
lol at the people comparing this to mcilrath or jessiman
much closer to picking malhotra, but i think he has more offensive upside. that said, his offensive upside seems pretty limited, likely tops out at 50 points.
let's see who's there at 21. would've preferred suzuki or lilegren.
Need a poll.
Have you ever seen this kid play?

All of you hating on this pick is absolutely absurd. This guy will be solid. They went BPA as the usually do!!

His UPSIDE is a second liner. That's not great at 7th overall.
Hopefully I'm eating crow on this in a few years but idk. What's best case scenario here? He becomes another Stepan?
reading he had the same PPG as William Nylander in the J20 Superelit?
Yeah, this isn't McIlrath. It seems like this kid is going to be a sure fire NHL'er for the most part. It's just the upside isn't there with the other players on the board. Don't hate the player or the pick, I hate the fact they didn't trade down to take him. Deflating in that sense.
Honestly, I feel like we took this kid because the damn scout is retiring so they felt like they have to repay him for all his hard work. Great way to draft.
I'm no draft expert so I can't really argue for or against this pick. But I'm curious if he really was the BPA. Look at where he was ranked:
Ranked #12 by Hockeyprospect.com
Ranked #25 by ISS Hockey
Ranked #13 by Future Considerations
Ranked #17 by McKeen's Hockey
Ranked #13 by TSN/McKenzie
Seems like the consensus had him 13-17 or so. What makes you believe he was the BPA? Again, I don't follow this **** anymore so I don't really know, I'm just curious.
He´s not a McDavid, Draisaitl or Matthews. He´s a solid Center and a good Pick for the Rangers. Maybe a good 2. Center in a few Years.
Give the Kid a Chance. I do it.
He sounds like a potential Chris Drury to Zach Parise. Not flashy but effective.
BPA on the Rangers board, not consensus rankings. Teams never use consensus rankings at the draft, they use their own compiled by their scouts. In the Rangers eyes, he was BPA.
But, IMO, he's a solid two-way center that can pressure beyond belief. Has the potential to get Grabner-like speed. Not that I'm saying he will, but he has the capability of becoming a big time speedster!! He'll be a fan favorite for sure!!
