What's the deal? Was he playing great in juniors and the team thought he was ready to make the jump? Or is he staying in Moncton and the elc will start next season?

He is definitely not making any jump and will just play in juniors for a year or two. So yeah, his ELC won't start until year two. He is about to turn 19 years old. I believe if they would have waited until after he was 19, the first year would have been used this season.

Dom do you think he has shown a little more than expected in his early showings?
From his first exhibition game where he looked lost and confused on the smaller ice to now, yes.

Needs to work on his skating. Pivots are awkward and slow and can be beat wide and needs to improve his first step. Though, I am not too concerned about it.

I have been pleasantly surprised so far.

Is the timing weird? Do we sign most draft picks this early?

If he's being discussed as a trade chip would this improve his value?

I don't think it would impact his trade value much . He was drafted in the 6th, he has exceeded expectations so far, so I would guess that would put his value closer to a 5th round pick. Basically the type of value that is thrown into a deal. I would rather keep the lottery ticket
