He’s performing pretty well in the MPL, which is basically AAA skill level with a major league environment. Assuming he gets on a hot start, he should be good for a midseason callup.

Take em both for Travis

They can throw in a few of those fancy 10 GB for $60 Rogers plans

I doubt that is realistic.

However, Travis + Pillar + Prospects + taking on Castro could be enough for Yelich.

They should. Reduce his value so we can trade for him cheaper then convert him back into a starter.

Castro isn't a salary dump imo. He's still a decent INF with a good chance to rebound to 2.5ishWAR. Depending on how things shake out for our infield this offseason he could be a good buy low candidate.

As a side, i wonder if the Padres are looking to move Brad Hand in a deal to dump Solarte. It could open the money for them to sign Hosmer as per rumors. That'd be an interesting play for Atkins to make as we'd get a stud reliever and a utility INF in one deal.

Toronto has an impact third-base trade chip of its own in Josh Donaldson, who is held in particularly high esteem by the Cardinals. But the Jays have made it clear they have no plans to trade Donaldson, a three-time All-Star with an MVP award and two Silver Sluggers on his resume since arriving from Oakland in 2015. If the Jays decide to move him, it will be a radical departure from what they've been telling the media and potential suitors for months.

"It seems like it was one rumor that came out at the trade deadline, and people have continued to build off that rumor,'' general manager Ross Atkins told ESPN.com. "We're trying to win, and I can't imagine our team being better without Josh Donaldson.''

Amid the daily updates and speculation, the Blue Jays exist in that netherworld between good enough to dream and perpetually outgunned. They're a big-market club with ample resources under the auspices of Rogers Communications, and they feel an obligation to put a competitive product on the field in recognition of the 3.2 million fans who came out to see the team in 2017. Only the Dodgers, Cardinals, Giants and Yankees drew more.

The on-field storyline wasn't quite as upbeat. The Blue Jays won 76 games while dealing with some devastating injuries in 2017, and it's hard to envision them as anything more than a wild-card contender next season. They're the middle child in an AL East family with two bullies at the top, trying to carve out an identity and assert themselves.

At least, that's the general perception. "It doesn't feel like the middle to me,'' Atkins said. "The Yankees and Red Sox are going to be very good, and I would agree there's probably more to come potentially for both teams. But we're excited about trying to overcome the challenges. That's why we sign up for these jobs. There are a lot of good stories in baseball, and we're hoping to be one of those better stories.''

The Jays have been linked to free agent outfielder Jay Bruce, who would give them much-needed lefthanded power and a replacement for Jose Bautista in right field. The Jays need a big bat, and their rotation could use another arm to go with Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez, J.A. Happ, Joe Biagini, and Marco Estrada, with the possibility of moving Biagini back to the bullpen.

There has been talk of Toronto dealing Josh Donaldson, who can be a free agent after the season, as third baseman/outfielder Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is about a year away from a full-time job. The Jays have also received a lot of inquiries about closer Roberto Osuna.

Nice move by TD and Rogers.

Unlike Scotiabank who did Scotiabank Arena instead of the much more catchy Scotiabank Gardens

I would have preferred Scotiabank Gardens aswell, but I understand why they didn't go that route. It may have changed names, aswell as being heavily altered via construction/reno, but the structure of the old Gardens is still there.

Where as in the jays scenario, it's still the same building.

Signed Morales november 11th, 2016

Signed Bautista January 17th, 2017

It's nuts that outside of the diaz trade this it the quietest offseasons they've had in a while. I think they'll sign someone in January.
