Very disappointing

Because the league wanted a game in NYC. They figured a Rangers - Islanders is too local to draw national interest, and the Sabres were the only other option to have the Rangers as the road team so they could avoid paying property taxes per their lease.

Rangers can't play a "home game" anywhere else in NYC (maybe NY State as well?) as part of their tax break, so it's basically all a sham to circumvent that. It was never meant to really be a true Buffalo home game or they'd be in Buffalo now not the Rangers' backyard.

I mean, Rangers are even wearing the home team colored jerseys haha.

Yep it's a tax issue. So the sabres are the home team only in that they get last change. Everything else, it's the rangers.

When they have the wide angle view you can see that there's a huge amount of space on the field that has no shadows. They positioned the ice in the one space where they were guaranteed to have this camouflaged pattern of shadows.
