Series Discussion: Winnipeg vs Dallas - Western Conf Round 2

Based on last nights game, Helly gets a temporary stay of execution. But of course it all depends on what we see starting next series.

At the game and you could feel and see 15,000 people holding their breathe every time St. Louis came down the ice for a shot. During the regular season, it was never like that, it was always... no problem, Helly's got this. So hopefully this allows him to get his mojo back, because he must be better.

I'm still in disbelief we are getting more Jets playoff hockey. Everything 3 mins and beyond in the 3rd period still feels like a dream.

Two key issues at the forefront for me still - health and goaltending.

Really hoping we get some good news on Scheif and JoMo. I really, really want to see our full arsenal just at some point here. Dallas is a deep team, but as we know, so are the Jets, and I would love to see Arny really roll those lines as this series goes along.

Helle looked like an entirely different guy, especially in those OTs. Right out at the top of the blue, standing tall, challenging shooters. I hope the mental hurdle of getting past this first round alleviates some pressure and he can just settle into his game now. We can't afford to even have close to same quality of goaltending as the last series. Tempting fate like that won't end well for the Jets.

So damn excited for Wednesday. Bring on the Stars, baby.

GJG.

If this is the lineup

Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi
Ehlers-Namestnikov-Perfetti
Neiderietter-Lowry-Iaffalo
Tanev-Barron-Appleton

Morrissey-Demelo
Samberg-Pionk
Fleury-Schenn

I believe the Jets will win.

If there are major injuries still, or if they run out the Stanley Schenn pairing every game again, its going to be very very hard to outscore Dallas
I think you could make the case as well that if the games are not as physical as the Blues were, that Miller could be a replacement for Schenn as well.

Yeah, I'm expecting this series to look a lot different, which likely leads to some different configurations being preferred.

Yeah seems like Colorado and Dallas really went all in on the firewagon style. If we stick to our gameplan we should be able to counter it effectively but I do wonder if they went more firewagon hockey because that is generally the gameplan that Colorado forces you to play given their speed.

There is a Jets gear that can be accessed from the outside on the portage side of the arena.

There used to be a jersey store on the second floor of portage place mall, but I haven't been in the mall in a year or so and have no idea if it's still there.

I'll check there, should be getting into town around 4pm so should give me plenty of time to hit up the gear store and pick one up.

Second question. What's a good spot to hit up for eats before the game?

Hoping it's not as physical as the St.L series. ( re: number of hits )
It won't be. !st round is always the most physical by the second round the talent takes over and you see less upsets plus playing physical takes its toll. Just look at the Tkachuks in 4 Nations how many weeks did it take for them to recover. McAvoy never recovered.
The Avs series the Stars in the 1st game only 18 hits and the last 2 games 19 & 25 hits. Avs outhit the Stars all 7 games.

Beiska was saying yesterday how in 2011 Loungo was shakey in the first round and the Canucks finally beat the Hawks in OT and than Loungo carried them to the finals.
Hopefully Helle can do the same.

Others' mileage may vary but I find Elephant & Castle has really decent food and really good fish and chips.

I won't hold that against you.:naughty::laugh: You will have a great time.:nod:

I bleed blue, except when it comes to CFL but I'm also not a massive football guy. So far I've been to just as many hockey games (Heritage Classic) at the new stadium as I have been to Rider games. So I won't take much offence to anything you throw my way regarding that.

Fleury has absolutely earned his spot after last night. We really need speed so I think you try out Fleury and Miller for game 1. Then if it ramps up in physicality you can look at going to Schenn for game 2.
We could leave Schenn in and have a pair of righties. Didn't we do that a few times this year, or am I imagining that?

Much love HFJets
