All the strife and shit play this season, this team was in a playoff spot and basically held their fate in their hands. Then they went 0-2-2 in their last 4, leading in the 3rd period of 3 of those games.

Said it in the GDT but all the hemming and hawing over Jones and penciling him into lineups and whining about him. The guy is just not good enough. He’s not a good enough skater to compensate for his size, he’s a very poor defender in his own zone and loses too many battles, he’s poor defending in transition. He can move the puck and play on the PP but he’s not really particularly good at either. Basically he’s not good enough at the things he’s good at to be a good NHL defenseman on a good team.

He maybe has a future as a 6D somewhere on a bad team, maybe he’ll find a good situation somewhere and carve out a career but I won’t lose any sleep about losing him and I feel like everyone here and in twitter whining about him not playing are kind of missing all of the deficiencies in his game. Lavi is a moron this year but Jones not playing over Lindgren or Trouba is a decision literally every single coach in the NHL would make. This isn’t Keith Yandle sitting in the press box or someone in a similar style who is a major plus of a player.

Not a Dehaan fan but he was playing ok before they took him out. Jones will stay in the lineup until Fox comes back for the pp but for me I'd prefer key on pp1 at this point. Jones just seems really predictable
