In the replay it didn't look to me like Kane was trying to hit Emelin with his helmet. Emelin's helmet fell off and it looked like Kane was just trying to throw it away - get it out of the way.

And, before the fight Emelin seriously roughed Kane up. I wouldn't be happy if I was him. It's 4-1 Habs.
