OK, fair enough.
Edit: But the Jets still took him at 18 - and moved up. Nobody (else) had him that high.
Right. It was a bad idea, I think.
OK, fair enough.

If there's a player you want, and you think there's a risk someone will grab him before your selection, you move up. I question the pick, but understand why they did it.
Wasn't the rumor Detroit was going to grab him at 21, which forced us to move up.
If a) Detroit liked him, and b) we wanted him bad enough to jump the que, doubt it was all based on size.
Damien Cox had Stanley #14 on Sportsnet's final top 30 ranking.

Couple others had him at 19 and 20.
Damien Cox, isn't he about as credible as Eklund? OK, OK, not quite - but close.![]()
Just responding to your assertion that no one had him higher than #18. I made no claim to how credible.
Has anybody said it was ALL on size? I've said that size was what differentiated him from the other candidates but that isn't quite the same. Has anybody been able to come up with any other differentiator other than the famous work ethic?

Yes, strong second half improvement in skating, puck handling and movement, in his draft year. Played an effective shutdown role for Rocky, was given pp time and didt look out of place.
He started off slow this sason but was steadily improving and was playing at a high level prior to his injury this season, and had he stayed healthy, would have easily doubled his point totals from his previous season.
He was also stood out at development camp scrimmages, I thought he was one of the better prospects in both.
He has some tools to go with his size, he will just need time to develop them.
